$39.95 is the MSRP for the slipcover edition. The same as it has been for most FCE releases. Would expect that price on Amazon to drop long before ship date. The discs will be available in many other shops as well.

The slipcover will be the same build and quality of our previous releases.

Of course. The post was meant as a reply to the preceding conversation as a whole, not you specifically.

Looks like this showed up on MVD today. Oddly, it looks like FCE is releasing a dvd version in addition to the blu-ray.

Ah, I was only looking at the MVD customer shop, not their retailer site.

Not here, of course, but there are still plenty of customers who did not upgrade to Blu-ray, and who still buy DVDs. This film has a very wide appeal that goes beyond hardcore physical media collectors. We'd be leaving sales on the table, if we weren't open to DVD as well.

No I totally get the reasoning. It's just unique since it seems like so many labels are discontinuing their dvd releases.

Definitely gonna pre-order Party Girl when Bull Moose puts it up, unsure why they're splitting titles between the two but I'm just hyped to see this label get bigger, here's to a good year of FCE

Hoping it won't be prohibitively difficult or expensive to get FCE's MVD titles with slipcovers in Canada, I've collected all the existing FCE LE's through VS (except one, but that will be rectified soon) and would like to keep that train going

Nice to see the CEO of FCE return. With such a long gap between fun releases, hope you still had some money left to spend on the VS subscriber week!

It'll be dependent on the title, its audience / market and its history on home video formats.

Welcome back jah13! Your input and such was sorely missing from here!

Does Fun City still have an active deal with MGM?

I may have mentioned this in past posts, but is Whoops Apocalypse with MGM in the US, or did it revert back to ITV (who owns the ITC catalog)? ITV created HD master as it just got a UK BD release by Network. Decent release, but the encode isn't very good. I doubt the ITV master would be available to MGM or anyone if they did still have distribution rights. MGM doesn't have any recent masters but they should have an IP to work from should a new transfer be needed.

Bonus Interview w/ Jonathan Hertzberg of Fun City Editions:

No new announcements but an update on Primetime Panic 2 (the discussion starts at 45:45):

Quote:
We did already reveal that we are going to do a Primetime Panic 2, so we'll have another set of 3 more TV movies from that early 80s era, so that's going to be coming, I think possibly, that might be the next thing after Party Girl.

Fun City Editions, I would love to see you tackle Malibu Bikini Shop (1986). It's not on brand for you, but one I would love to see come out.

I listened/watched this today and there was some great info shared. I had a bit of a laugh when Ryan started talking about OCN Distro and FCE exposure. While he isn’t wrong, it only makes sense for Jonathan to try and see how he can find an even bigger audience when different avenues present themselves. It’s too bad the traditional distribution to store process has almost come to an end just as FCE, Radiance, Indicator, Kino are just getting cooking. They are all bringing films that have largely and unjustly been ignored by the major players, even when things were red hot for physical media.

Well worth a watch/listen!

I was re-reading K. J. Relth-Miller’s wonderful insights in Morvern Callar’s booklet, and I was thinking of how nice it would be to have her on a commentary. I used to see her all the time at the Hammer Museum’s Billy Wilder Theatre, where she programmed films for the UCLA Film & Television Archive and now at the Academy Museum, and she consistently impresses me with the scope of her knowledge and the works she champions.
