United Kingdom Nucleus Films and Second Sight Films

With what I spotted on Nucleus Films' website last weekend, it isn't a sale, but these two Blu-ray titles - on and off - I've been keeping an eye on their prices as they haven't budged much in the two years since they were released by the UK boutique label. I think their Blu-ray releases of gialli Nothing Underneath and Too Beautiful to Die have come down in price by £3 GBP, down to £14.99 GBP.

Secondly (and apologies if this has already been posted in this Movie Deals thread), HMV have currently got a Second Sight Films offer on (all the titles appear to be standard editions), where there is a 35% off discount code: DEAL35

Is DiscoTek Days from the old Right Stuf days or is this on another site? I would love to purchase some more Discotek releases.

Never purchased from Severin before (sale or otherwise).

What are the prices for something recently released? I was thinking of getting Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker 4K.

Titles released within the past 6 months aren’t on sale.

Thanks! Was hoping this would be a label wide sale for Discotek from a retailer. I miss scanning the 40% studio sales from Right Stuf and grabbing titles.

ClassicFlix Silver Series Sale. Mostly DVD's, but the few Blu-rays, including International Lady, Night Has Eyes, Human Monster, and Hi Diddle Diddle are all $9.98 each. The DVD prices are really great too.

ClassicFlix also mentions two titles in the sale are going OOP:

Quote:
Going out of print—All good things must end and our license is up on two early Silver Series releases: The Complete PRC Michael Shayne Mystery Collection starring Hugh Beaumont and the dramatic weepie I Met My Love Again (1938) starring Henry Fonda and Joan Bennett.

They will be available for a few more months or while supplies last.

Some decent prices. But, then I read their shipping policy, which gives me a STRONG impression that they're a HORRIBLE company to deal with. No way would I consider buying anything from any vendor who takes no responsibility for lost or damaged deliveries. Damage is something that is entirely within their ability to control, and the page basically warns that they don't package securely enough for it not to be a major issue for them. Lost packages are just part of doing business that even ebay resellers selling for a loss have to deal with; it's completely unreasonable and unprofessional to put that burden on the buyer. Late deliveries, I can go along with; some buyers need to adjust their expectations. $100 for free shipping is more than a bit much too. It is interesting that they're having a sale without ANY stock whatsoever, don't plan on placing an order with their distributor until the day after the sale, and still expect all orders to ship within a week and 3 days.

I've ordered from them a bunch, and I've never had an issue with damaged or lost goods. If I recall everything has always been in a box with bubble wrap, never packed too tightly.

I haven't ordered from them too much, but their "Shipping" page has always struck me as somewhat hostile in its terminology. Loss/damage rarely occurs, but when a company puts it like that to the buyer... it can easily steer people away and to their competitors.

Grindhouse also do not accept PayPal as a payment option anymore. There was a rant about it in their last email.

I try to spread around my orders from Orbit/Diabolik/Grindhouse. Share the wealth, so to speak. I have never had a problem with any of their shipping. All always send in a box with bubble wrap.

Paypal is another animal altogether though. They can randomly decide to keep money and not pay it out, etc. It happened to someone I know on Etsy. It can be very intimidating to small companies who are trying to pay their bills and put food on the table.

Anyway, ordered these four:

Part of the contract entered into with an online seller is to have the item delivered. A purchaser can't even file a claim for a lost or damaged item, it must be the seller. Always use a credit card (vs. paypal which is a nightmare to deal with if there is an issue) and if the seller doesn't honor their end of the deal then do a charge back.

I've never had any problems not getting resolved with PayPal in 20+ years. CC charge backs are more of a hassle in my experience.
