A non-functional fireplace is worthless. Brick it up and use the space for something that is worthwhile: a nice new big TV.

I can't get your attached picture to display; some blu-ray.com malfunction, apparently.

Off work this week, watched 3 horror films over last 3 nights. Going for Excision tonight. (The film not a procedure)

Fixed it Vilya Honestly, there’s barely enough room for my 65” and I’d love it if both fireplaces functioned. It looks like the previous owner boarded it up here in the front room and we’re not sure about the one in the master bedroom. If things keep moving in the direction they’re going maybe my new place will be more accommodating. However I might be too broke to enjoy it

Space is a premium for many of us, I am very fortunate to have a dedicated home theater room.

In my bedrooms I have the flat panel TV’s mounted using Omnimount mounts that meet VESA standards, info here. The wiring is channeled thru Wiremold products, they have been spray painted to closely match the wall color. Wiremold products available from Amazon and Home Depot.

All of this arguing/bickering is pointless, and will not change the fact that physical media is still being produced - maybe not quite as much as in the past, but it's still coming out. And, physical media & physical TV's will be around for a long time in some capacity - so I think physical media fans (like myself & many others on here) don't have anything to worry about.

That being said, I know for a fact that some younger folks out there (20's/early 30's) do not even own DVD/Blu players, and stream exclusively - and these are movie/TV fans.

However:

-There is no reason you can't enjoy watching TV shows/movies on physical media & also stream TV shows/movies. I do both! They're not mutually exclusive (unless you want them to be) - though some people out there will make you believe they are.

Casual movie fans maybe, they ain’t that passionate though if they can’t be bothered going to the trouble of having a quality source.

You really need to give that "casual" fan crap a rest.

From their point of view, streaming and digital collections are quality sources. There are plenty of members on this site that only buy blu-rays and that refuse to buy 4K discs, would you similarly label them "casual" film fans? To them, blu-ray provides good enough quality just as digital and streaming offer good enough quality for their users.

Anyone who has hundreds, even thousands, of titles in their collections is a serious fan of movies.

I don't need to give anything a rest. That is my opinion. My ancestors fought in the war so I could have free speech.

Blu-ray is a high quality source, digital is not. Plus the guy said those folks were at youngest 20’s. Old enough to be aware that the Blu-ray format is superior to digital. They are probably casuals who watch on a tv with sound bar at the very best.
To me, that’s not serious movie fans.

By the way, there was no mention of how many films they own.

No one is contesting your right to say stupid and ignorant things. Your lengthy post history gives testimony to that fact. It would just be refreshing if you could restrain your impulse to do so once in awhile.

Those that watch with just a TV and a soundbar might have limited financial means; you certainly invoke your own financial limitations when I contrast how many discs I buy with how few that you buy. Their decision to use streaming might also be a matter of economics. You don't know, but you judge them all anyway.

You can label others all you like; you certainly have it in for millenials to name just one group, but that just exposes how closed minded you are. We each get to define our own level of interest in movies; no one made you the final arbiter of what constitutes a real film fan.

Dot’t worry, millenials will have forgot by now.

You are not all that far from being dementia eligible yourself. We will all get a break then, I suppose.

44? Hopefully a few years away yet. Although it does happen to younger people sadly.

Actually, we are getting more titles released on disc each year, not less.

There is nothing wrong with enjoying both physical media and streaming/VOD services. I use both and that will not change even if I get demoted to "casual movie fan" by a certain someone.

Content that I really like I buy exclusively on physical media. Content of lesser interest I stream or rent on demand. If I like what I streamed, I then buy it on disc. Streaming has actually led me to make some disc purchases that I otherwise might not have made.

When I was in my 40s, I liked to pretend that I was still "young", too. Keep that dream alive!

Younger. Didn’t claim to be young. It honestly doesn’t bother me.

You have a very nice looking home and watching movies on a 65" TV provides an excellent experience. I don't care much for non-functional things taking up large amounts of space, thus my being a bachelor, but, oops, I digress.
