I am not a current customer; why would they care what I think?

I think variable speed playback is an option that I will not use; it does not scare me like it scares you.

Nothing new, there are many millions of viewers world wide that has and will continue to get their entertainment via pay TV. Some are switching to OTT (SVOD and AVOD) but the vast majority still watch via linear TV. It is obvious most of these viewers do care about actual physical or licensed (EST) ownership. At the height of physical sales it was still a small fraction of pay TV's revenue.

So what? I don't care how other people choose to watch Netflix. I only care about how I choose to watch it (when I even subscribe, that is).

People have had the ability to watch content at whatever speed they choose for many years and having this ability has hurt nothing at all. This whole tirade of yours is much ado about nothing...again... and it is why your alarms fall on deaf ears.

So why is half of Hollywood fuming then? Plus, in years gone by there wasn’t th3 huge wealth of programming and social media and gaming competing with film and tv.

It maybe that choice is taken away from you. Especially if, in a few years, it proves most watch it that way.

I don't know that they are; you are the only one who has said this that I know of and you know how much credibility I give you already. A few unhappy tweets is hardly "half of Hollywood."

It's irrelevant, anyways. People have had the ability to zip thru, and outright skip, content for decades. This is not a revolutionary feature; at most it is just a refinement to one that we have already had.

Didn't you read the link? It lists several Hollywood stars and directors.

The difference being, this one will be used on a huge scale.

Again, Netflix has no reason to care how I watch their content, or with what, so long as I pay to do so.

There is ZERO reason for Netflix to force high speed playback on us. Doing so would needlessly anger people and they would need even more content if we all blasted thru it at light speed. Consuming more content in less time would cost them much more money as they would need a larger supply to keep people tuned in.

Only according to you...and who exactly are you, anyways?

We have had the ability to watch at high speed for many years and it has never become the preferred viewing option in all of that time.

So "several" is now "half", is it? This is another example of why you are not taken seriously. You are not only prone to rampant sensationalism, but wholesale exaggeration.

My antenna and my light use of streaming are my replacements for cable TV. I bought content on disc even when cable TV had no streaming competitors and I still buy it on disc today. The same as it ever was for me.

Only had cable for short time in the 80's. Had DirecTV then Dish over a 12 year period, dropped in 2006. Always rented or purchased my movie fixes and continue to do so. Just added 7 more to the list including Parasite 3D.

Well, at the time of the tweet, one actor clearly stated he would contact every director in the business so...........by now? Yes.

Fast forward on cable boxes and DVD/Blu Ray players here have the ff mode without audio. This system has pitch corrected audio. Big difference.

No, that does not prove your claim that "half of Hollywood" is mad about this Netflix option. Facts are proof; your personal conjecture and concocted extrapolations are just hot air.

Pitch corrected audio is a difference; how big of one remains to be seen.

It will never be the only option for viewing movies, so it remains a tempest in a teacup adversely affecting no one.

I just received the gift of a new gaming mouse, so I must divert my attention away from the doom that Netflix is summoning upon us.

I hope that movies, TVs, and civilization are still here once I get my new mousey all customized and programmed.

I can't even get the box opened; off to a great start!
