Probabilities are based upon evidence that is already observable and historical precedents. You have neither to prove any degree of probability that variable speed playback will become a popular viewing option, yet alone one that will threaten movies.
Many of our forum members have been predicting the "death" of physical media, but, unlike you, they have actual declining sales data over a period of years to support their position. Thus, their predictions have some credibility and they are rooted in something that has been objectively measured. Anyone can spit out wild predictions, but none of them would have any credibility just as none of yours ever do. You have no objective evidence of any kind to support a shred of the nonsense that you predict. You have been predicting the end of movies, and much more, for several years and none of it has happened and there is no evidence that any of it is likely to happen. Your warnings are as pointless as they are ridiculous, too. You offer no solutions. With you all outcomes are hopeless; the death of movies is a foregone conclusion due to one cause or another and that alone makes all of your predictive posts worthless. No one benefits from all these alarms that you keep sounding; they serve no useful purpose other than as comedic fodder. |

You obviously realise if Sony was to go to Apple it would probably annihilate all blu ray , 4k , dvd sales and replication ? Sony wouldn’t be backing 4k Into the ps5 etc also in a scenario where they where unsure of a business. Vue was many many times less successful than most of Sony’s weaker divisions |

![]() I asked for your answer because I did not know that you had made one, as weak as it was, so what do I need to apologize for? Is it an offense not to remember every silly thing that you post? Your reply here is just another deflection and Penguin's question to you, from earlier today, remains unanswered. You give new meaning to the old advice of "Duck and Cover!" as this is what you do every time that you find yourself cornered from your own illogic. Last edited by Vilya; 10-30-2019 at 08:18 PM. |

Requesting a feature that you do not care to use is not a crime, either. No one has to conform to your expectations or to your demands. You're long on ASSumptions and short on facts as usual. |

Time has already told us that you are wrong each and every single year that your wacky predictions go unrealized. That is a reliable historical precedent to predict that you will continue to be wrong.

Are you going to predict color TVs for us next? I never questioned your "lack of replies"; you certainly plaster this thread with those, but you do duck and dodge hard questions. I did not see, or I had forgotten, your actual answer to this question: how does forcing high speed viewing upon its customers benefit Netflix? After many requests, you finally restated your answer and I understand why you hesitated to do so. It was among the dumbest answers that I have ever read and posting such stupidity twice should have been embarrassing. Last edited by Vilya; 10-30-2019 at 08:27 PM. |

I am feeling great if you care to know.
What's wrong with you...everyday? ![]() Are you now disowning your prediction that variable speed playback will threaten movies? That would be refreshing, but also as unrealistic an expectation as are your predictions themselves. Still waiting for your answer to Penguin's question from this post made today: "If millennials have as terrible attention spans as you think then why are binge-watching, serialized shows, and long movies more popular than ever?" https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...ostcount=18715 I know that you have cognitive issues, so I am happy to keep reminding you. Just a reminder, anyone with something to sell is going to look for every possible way to sell that product. I believe they call that, “stating the obvious.” Netflix is no different, variable speed playback is just their latest. IMO, no streamer wants to be seen as not having the same features as physical disc and is the reason they make a big deal about UHD, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
Netflix and UHD - they make/have made a lot of noise about UHD but the reality is this, most barely watch in HDTV as borne out by their data as seen here. They provide Dolby Atmos (the lossy kind) on a few movies and very select hardware. The other streamers are in similar situations. Its all marketing, just not a big deal that Netflix will provide some content at 1.5X speed to mobile devices. Still does not come close to what I could do with CAV LaserDisc 34 years ago. |

![]() I have been able to use variable speed playback with pitch correction since 2007 when I bought my Playstation 3, that rare game console that so few people ever owned and that had such little impact on home video entertainment. ![]() I was unaware that I had this option with the Playstation 3 until Penguin informed me yesterday, but I have still had this option all of this time. I just did not care enough to look for it- and I still don't, to be honest. |
