My Amazon copy did include the Blu-ray. You’re just not getting the digital code.

Anyone know if the Blu-ray is remastered or is it from the release way back in ‘06?

Yes, yes! I started watching the Blu-ray last night in my bedroom, thanks.

I don't know which one the BD comprises of, but the image is spectacular. I assume it's a remaster if the '06 one looks like doody.

Er, no. Who gave you that idea?

Yes, other than the noticeably higher level of detail it is true that there is no real improvement.

I picked this up recently. To my eyes it looks terrible because it suffers from being too dark like a lot of 4K presentations. The review on this site that gives it a perfect score for video quality really leaves me puzzled.

It’s either your TV, your settings, or your poor personal taste. What it isn’t is the disc.

This transfer in particular was terrible for setting off the ASBL on some TVs tho. But yes, that's matey's constant complaint about HDR for one or all of the reasons above.

Thanks for the feedback. Sometimes the reviews on this site can be rather lenient so I thought I would check with some forum members, who tend to be far pickier about video quality.

I seriously wondered what the heck was going on when I saw the review.

I doubt it is a lack of taste on my part. Even in exterior shots in the middle of the day, it looks like the light has been slightly drained from the image, which does not look very naturalistic at all. The exterior shots are definitely better than interiors, though.

I don't have this experience with every 4K disc I watch, but it is a reoccurring issue.

I watched this recently and i had the same experience. Like Geoff said, maybe it's the ASBL kicking in? I'm watching on a LG G2. Never noticed this with any other 4K movies though.

The first Dune 4K disc was the one that taught me what ASBL was, and the internet then taught me how to turn the bloody thing off.

Yup, the ASBL kicked in hard on my LG B2 (the scene with Munny sick in the saloon was almost pitch black). As soon as my warranty was up, bought a $7 service remote, and that was that.

Yeah this was one of those discs that was super dark on my old TCL (along with Goodfellas) but looks totally fine on my Sony. Lovely, even.

I've watched hundreds of 4K discs and never yet found one where the presentation is too dark. Unforgiven gets a perfect score for video quality because the UHD looks fantastic.

Good idea, time to get into that service menu and disable it.

Did you ever notice any problems after disabling?

None at all, I've just made myself extra careful about turning it off if I leave the room for more than a minute. Could be overly cautious, but I'm trying to ride with this TV for a bit.

Not sure if this was covered, but does the UHD's DTS-HD MA 5.1 mix contain any new audio from the Blu-ray's Dolby Digital 5.1 (or the LD's PCM 2.0 mix)?

I’ve got a C3, how do I turn it off?
