Oh, did you cite the films directed by Scorsese's inferior to Killers of the Flower Moon?

Exactly. All I'm asking is what qualities elevates KOTFM to a masterwork, or even simpler, where it stands with his best work.

Because I'm not getting it, and I'm not alone.

When someone's attitude is simply it's SCORSESE, then you know they wouldn't be able to give you a single reason of what makes Scorsese such an accomplished director, even if it was Ace asking as Nicky eyes the pen.

Too busy flapping their fingers for his depictions of violence or the inscrutability of his reputation, one or other.

Ask a simple question, and it's as if I'm asking for the keys to the Tangiers count room.

He isn't interested in debate. He is interested in being right at all times, and belittles and insults otherwise. His opinions here are duly noted by everyone, over and over again. He's just trolling now. Fortunately, I can no longer see his pretentious nonsense, anymore. I'm finished speaking to him.

Some people just love the sound of themselves typing and will make sure everyone has to be bombarded with their screed.

gimme a break. you’re selling tickets with the names of dicaprio, deniro and scorsese. she’s not carrying the movie, because she has hardly any scenes by herself.

she shows no range in the movie. she does no accent. you could have put anyone in that role and it would be the same movie. but i don’t think you could put someone like tom hardy in oppenheimer and have it still work.

murphy at least is doing a convincing accent not in his natural speaking voice. and he has a lot of dialogue.

you want to talk about someone carrying a movie, emma stone in poor things is doing the majority of the heavy lifting. without her, the movie doesn’t work.
Lily Gladstone doesn’t bring the people but without her performance, this film wouldn’t be anywhere near the film it is and Leo, Marty and Bob would ALL concur.

That's because unlike you, I actually read the book, and thought the budget, casting and script were major mistakes.

I mean, this is the thread about film Killers of the Flower Moon, right?

Just an observation, but it seems to me the issue that you and others have with my opinions is that I was right all along.

If Scorsese had listened to me, he would have won Best Picture.

It was his for the taking.

For old times sake.

Surely your bookshelf is full of Oscars that you have won and Scorsese was so obsessed with his own ideas and for that he won't get an Oscar. Poor Scorsese. People... you think you've seen it all, but they always manage to surprise you with how they think the world revolves around them, how right they are and how wrong everyone else is. In this case, I'm glad Scorsese didn't listen to you.

What? You've never seen La Dolce Vita?

Listen, you're a little confused. Let me explain a little bit about cinema. That's me channeling Marcello as I read some of the nonsense thrown up as opinions when I read some of these posts, not my own.

Like yours, for example.

Unbelievable.

Like, where's that post where the poster was saying KOTFM didn't do too badly at the box office, in fact, it was pretty good.

Anyone remember who that guy was?

KOTFM has lost hundreds of millions of dollars.

It's an embarrassment.

Did you see the mugs on Scorsese & Co. at the Globes?

Wha happen'ed?

I've just gotta throw my hands up.

Sometimes they never come down!

Ha ha ha.

Maybe you should post on books.com, not bluray.com if all you care about is the text and not the visual translation onto film?

And why was it imo this years best? The subject matter, the visuals & cinematography, how the story unfolded, the ending (which was great and inventive and 100% Scorsese) it was a high calibre film and I enjoyed it throughly despite its dark themes

The world doesn't revolve around me, in fact, it's not about me at all.

It's about the book, and how when some people think they can just simply adapt a book and completely change the essence of the story and elevate certain characters while excising others, all in a desperate attempt to curry favor with the awards circuit or because they're afraid how they will be perceived, well, fool around and find out.

Now we know.

Composed and performed by Oklahomans, “Wahzhazhe (A Song For My People)” from the film “Killers of the Flower Moon” was among songs included when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences unveiled its Oscar shortlist for best original song.

Finalists will be announced Jan. 23 when 2024 Academy Award nominations are revealed. “Killers of the Flower Moon,” Martin Scorsese’s film about the Osage reign of terror in 1920s Oklahoma, is expected to garner multiple nominations.“The movie ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ has placed a spotlight on our Nation and our culture, which has existed for centuries,” Scott George, a creator of the Oscar-shortlisted song, said.

“Our music helps define us, heals and strengthens us, and allows us to maintain our way of life in a world that no longer resembles the era our ancestors came from. It was an honor for us to be asked to participate in the movie.”

Same, I’m happy when a director can take a great book and make it even better. It’s no wonder why critics and audiences love it

Critics Consensus

Enormous in runtime, theme, and achievement, Killers of the Flower Moon is a sobering appraisal of America's relationship with Indigenous peoples and yet another artistic zenith for Martin Scorsese and his collaborators. Read critic reviews

Audience Says

Strong acting, gorgeous cinematography, and a powerful story keep Killers of the Flower Moon engrossing in spite of its slower pace and extreme length.
