Exactly. All I'm asking is what qualities elevates KOTFM to a masterwork, or even simpler, where it stands with his best work.

When someone's attitude is simply it's SCORSESE, then you know they wouldn't be able to give you a single reason of what makes Scorsese such an accomplished director, even if it was Ace asking as Nicky eyes the pen.

Too busy flapping their fingers for his depictions of violence or the inscrutability of his reputation, one or other.

Ask a simple question, and it's as if I'm asking for the keys to the Tangiers count room.

murphy at least is doing a convincing accent not in his natural speaking voice. and he has a lot of dialogue.

you want to talk about someone carrying a movie, emma stone in poor things is doing the majority of the heavy lifting. without her, the movie doesn’t work.

Lily Gladstone doesn’t bring the people but without her performance, this film wouldn’t be anywhere near the film it is and Leo, Marty and Bob would ALL concur.

That's because unlike you, I actually read the book, and thought the budget, casting and script were major mistakes.

Just an observation, but it seems to me the issue that you and others have with my opinions is that I was right all along.

If Scorsese had listened to me, he would have won Best Picture.

It was his for the taking.

And why was it imo this years best? The subject matter, the visuals & cinematography, how the story unfolded, the ending (which was great and inventive and 100% Scorsese) it was a high calibre film and I enjoyed it throughly despite its dark themes

The world doesn't revolve around me, in fact, it's not about me at all.

It's about the book, and how when some people think they can just simply adapt a book and completely change the essence of the story and elevate certain characters while excising others, all in a desperate attempt to curry favor with the awards circuit or because they're afraid how they will be perceived, well, fool around and find out.

Now we know.

Same, I’m happy when a director can take a great book and make it even better. It’s no wonder why critics and audiences love it
