But I'll get to it, I swear! Short: 3 1/2 (out of 4). Very entertaining and interesting concept but not very deep and it tries to be smarter than it is. Little to no characterization. The plot revolves around it trying to be smart but offers little else. Great directing. Good score.

But, I did enjoy it very much. Review to come later.
I actually disagree. I think the film's greatest asset is its excellence in all production aspects. The first thing I realized about it is how near-perfect it really comes to excelling in every area and consequently will probably be studied for years to come. My review is also coming up later.

2/5
Wow man I have to disagree with u on this film. I thought this was well done. I dont know the folklore and never read anything on this story so that may play a part in my difference but I really enjoyed it and thought it was a very good story. Got Em!!

The Manchurian Candidate (1962) - Took the day off today so I knocked out a couple of films. I didnt know Janet Leigh was in this film and she was pretty good as well. I saw the remake but vaguely remember much so going into to this film I didnt know what to expect. For an old film I thought it was paced decently and the acting was good as well. Frank Sinatra was a cool cat and did a good job and the story was interesting. I am not the biggest fan of older films but this film held up ok. I dont think I would watch it again but its not a bad film by a long shot.

Film Rating - 3 1/2 stars (out of 5)

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - This film surprised me. I liked it and I wasnt really expecting to. I am not a fan of western films but this had a cool spin to it. The lead actors were great as they usually were in their heyday. Katherine Ross was stunning. The film kept my attention pretty much the whole film and Newman had great charisma and I liked his character a lot. I thought it had a good blend of comedy and seriousness to it so that it still could be taken seriously for what it was. This film has aged very well and I would definitely recommend this to western fans and movie fans alike.

Film Rating - 3 1/2 stars (out of 5)

Got Em!!

Yeah, i liked Beowulf as well. It's one of those movies where i went into it with very low expectations and was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly entertained. The book is obviously great and can be dissected endlessly from now till the end of time, but i didn't expect this movie to be that super deep and poetic and i knew they'd be changing things for the movie, so i wasn't heartbroken when they did. I've taken guff from pretty much all my friends for enjoying this movie. Everyone says it looks great, but........

Star Trek (2009)

Movie - 4.5/5
I am a huge sci-fi fan, so this movie was a real treat for me. This is sci-fi movie done right, and add to that mind blowing space action scenes, great humour, great acting and epic story and you get on of the best movies of 2009.
To put it short, this movie had epicness written all over it.

PQ - 5/5
Pure referance quality. Very lifelike colours. Inky blacks in space where great.
Also, I also liked the light effects creates by cameras for the inside ship sequances.

AQ - 5/5
This is and has been for a long while my most favorite blu-ray for AQ. I think it has the most dynamic and detailed soundtrack available on any blu ray. The thing I like most was that this soundtrack wasnt too loud or aggressive.
Overall, it creates a very lifelike experience.

Overall - 5/5
This is a summer blockbuster done right. Epic sci-fi movie full of action, humour and adventure. Quality wise, PQ is referance quality, while AQ is my most favorite out of all blu rays in the market at the moment.
I beleive this is a must have blu-ray disk for every blu-ray fan.

I was thinking about it a little more this morning. "The Social Network" does have one thing it does have going for it, just like with "Doubt," is that it handles everything fairly ambiguously, and you can never be sure if Mark Zuckerberg is really innocent or guilty of all the stuff he's accused of.

But to me it will definitely not be as memorable as "Fight Club," "Zodiac," "Se7en," or even "Benjamin Button." I'll still keep my copy though.

Looking forward to your review, boss.

Looks like a reasonable analysis. I gave it big points for entertainment value and style. I thought I spotted some kind of metaphysical theme, but that's probably not the director's intention.

Still a fine excuse to kill 2 1/2 hours.

Same with me. Never read the original story. I'm sure the movie butchers it, and it certainly has its weaknesses. But I can dig the movie's barbaric action and slick visuals.

"I...AM...BEEEOOOWUULLLFFFF"

"THIS IS SPARTAAAA!!!!!"

"FREEEEDDDDOOOOOMMMM!!!!!"

Oh wait, I got my movies mixed up...
