Ok, - here's the thing though.. a lot of people feel that due to the loss to Iowa, Ohio State didn't belong. Despite being B1G Champions and 3 key victories otherwise.

BUT

Does Alabama belong? Because I surely don't think so.

11-2 USC played twelve games against Power 5 teams.
11-2 tOSU played eleven games against Power 5 teams.
11-1 Bama played nine games against Power 5 teams.

I believe the committee not only took the Iowa loss into consideration, but also a "lesser of all evils" approach and viewed it as "Alabama's been #1 most of the year, only had one loss, blah blah blah...". Some SEC bias there? Perhaps a little.

Furthermore, they can say all they want about "this is about this year", etc., but I believe last year also played a part in this as well. They probably figured a rematch of a classic title game would be a better semifinal than a rematch of a 31-0 shellacking.

Looking at the rest of the top 10, Ohio State and Alabama were really the only two choices. Wisconsin's non-conference schedule was even easier than Alabama's. Auburn has three losses. All the other two-loss teams don't have the resume Ohio State does.

While they have had a good-but-not-great season, I don't think Ohio State is one of the four best teams this year. That said, I think they'll take their frustrations out on USC; I'm sure Meyer is going to use this perceived slight as tremendous motivation.

But the bottom line is this: you asked me if Alabama belongs. Let me put it this way: if Alabama and Ohio State were to play each other this year, as much as it pains me to say this, I think Alabama wins.

I recall everyone on this forum basically agreeing Bret Bielema made a horrific mistake leaving Wisconsin for Arkansas several years ago. We were right. I'm sure he regrets that decision immensely.
