There haven't been mass shootings at conventions though. Conventions also have very tight security compared to theaters.

I have one issue about this whole thing: "better safe than sorry". I wish more people could behave responsibly in a movie theater, not causing chaos or killing people...but recent events over the last few years have proven otherwise. Murderers are getting bolder in public places, so better protection is needed.

I was at a convention several years ago, and saw three women in their 20s, all dressed in "slave Leia" outfits. They were chatting with each other, and posing for pics with fans, acting like being 80% nude was perfectly normal. It was very strange; I felt uneasy just being in the same hallway. I've also seen pictures of similar cosplayers online, and it amazes me how brazen some people can be. To quote Bill Engvall, "one sneeze, the surprise is out".

I walked past Comic Con last year in London and there was a guy dressed in a Chappie costume. A ****ing Chappie costume! I shit you not! It was all I could do to not grab the lifesaver out of Luke Skywalkers hand and decapitate the fool!
