Just a reminder: that UCF game was close because the NCAA is a laughingstock. UCF's best kicker coming into this season had to quit the team because the NCAA told him to shut down his YouTube page. They don't even let players earn money on the side that is unrelated to their football status.

so it's against the rules for student athletes to make money? even at a job? if so, that's just preposterous. what makes them so different that they aren't allowed to make money from a job? and if the ncaa doesn't think that youtube is a job, they need to talk to aaaaaall the people that do it to make money on a daily basis. and some of them make a BUNCH of money.

edit: after reading about that whole thing, my thoughts about the ncaa stand. how is it against the rules for a student-athlete to showcase THEIR skills and make money off of them? an athlete's skills do NOT belong to the ncaa. and they do NOT belong to the school or to the team for which they play. they belong solely to the player. i wish enough institutions would get together and vote to ban the ncaa and tell them to **** off and then never do anything they tell them to or listen to any of their crazy rules again.

but hey, at least now he can keep working on his skills and keep showcasing them on youtube for all to see and keep making money from them. and good for him for standing up for what he believes in and what is right.

Yep, the NCAA threatened Donald De La Haye, basically telling him to end his YouTube account or quit football. He quit the football team. Funny thing is the NCAA doing this stunt helped make his YouTube account extremely successful. He only had around 50,000 subscribers when they started their crap about it. Now he's up to nearly half a million subscribers, probably enough to live off of. While I hates losing him I'm glad he told the NCAA to go F themselves and didn't bow to their demands.

I don't think the NCAA told him to quit football; they more than likely told him that he could still play but not as a scholarship player -- only as a walk-on.

USC had a walk-on placeholder by the name of Conner Sullivan who was quite active on YouTube, and he wasn't asked to quit YouTube or be ineligible.
