Why are you? I was posting from an article then it gets redirected back at me as if I was the one that came up with the stats?

Collecting movies may be my favorite thing ever. I'm a bit concerned about the future changes and the ability to own movies in the future. When you read about the rights to content being traded and manipulated and realize it's all very much linked to the amount of money involved and the individual has little control or input. Well,... I can't predict the future at all and there's no use to worry about it.

I don't see any need to chose between Streaming and Physical Media. I enjoy them both and will continue to buy them both.

I have been buying more streaming content lately. Of course some things are only available on one or the other. I have hosted movie nights for others with Crawl and 47 Meters Down Uncaged streaming from iTunes in 4K HDR.

My view of Physical media is - Get it while you can.

It saddens me that former die hard disc people are abandoning the format. It’s a self defeating prophecy. Disc would be absolutely fine if people put their faith in the format instead of a Russian roulette streaming landscape.

That’s absolute mince.

My speakers would cry out if I fed them that shit.

Probably because it should be about the film/content than formats and whatnot. I'm sure cost factors into it, as well.

Go easy now Steed. In the 90's I remember how super exciting it was to get Dolby Digital 5.1 from LaserDisc titles. I used a Sony SDP-EP9ES decoder with RF input with my modified Pioneer CLD-900. The Sony was also used when the DVD player was added in 1997.

It should be about quality when relating to HT. There are a great many HT enthusiasts in this forum. Many of our aims are to replicate the cinema at home. That ain’t gonna happen with digital, 4K or not.

Also, considering we live in the ‘snowflake/woke’ era, I wouldn’t be surprised if people start picking apart films from different decades and wanting that content to be cut or censored, discs are even more important then. We already have many favourite on Blu-ray, untouched.
Subscription streaming will just react to whatever group is ‘woke’ that particular month. Especially when social media is integrated even more with film and tv services (inevitable)

HT enthusiasts, at least those in this thread, do not strike me as film enthusiasts. Which is it going to be, film or HT? Both should be able to co-exist regardless if it's tangible (digital/physical media) or not.

Your second paragraph is hyperbole to the max and unfounded.

You're not a real film fan unless you have been so anointed.

You're not a real home theater fan, either, unless you have a "dedicated" and specially treated room for it.

We've covered all of this already; one member here decides the first matter while another one determines the second.

Well,... It took a while but I'm hooked on UltraHD Blu Ray now....

Bought 2 today ... so don't worry.

-Brian

p.s. ... I have no idea why when I buy used discs the codes are still active but I am thankful for it. So far every UltraHD Blu Ray I've bought used has come with un-used codes.

It probably won't happen to nearly the extent that Steedeel thinks it will but self-censorship of digital content is already happening. Calling it unfounded is inaccurate.

I have a few unused codes myself.

Congrats on the 4K disc purchases; you should say which ones so we can then decide if you have good taste in movies or not.

I am having my first caffeinated beverage right now; had a late night playing a video game with online strangers. I always learn new words when I do this.

I came here to see what I am supposed to be afraid of today; I figured you'd just be getting started, too.
