Streaming just replaced rentals for me. Nothing more. And if I'm pretty sure I'll like the movie I'll just blind buy it. Don't want to watch a crappy stream first.

In other news, Roma is getting a Blu-ray release from Criterion. There's still hope.

^ What's funny about that is the PS4 poster said nothing about surround and commented only about LFE. The Nvidia Shield poster did not say what version of Shield was used but I do know the 2019 version does DV and Atmos.

No need to be snide. I was quoting the quotes you posted. The person said that there was no LFE on the PS4. No shit, that's because it's in 2.0, which is what I've been saying for days now. The only way he would have gotten a LFE response is if he defaulted to a 2.1 presentation by switching a setting on his receiver. I doubt he did, though.

From Bill Hunt:

(Note that I’m viewing via the Disney+ app on the Roku Ultra 4K, running through the Oppo UDP-203 to two different display devices—a flat panel and a projector).
Bill says he gets Atmos via the Roku.

The poster said nothing about his setup so I will not presume his settings.

I have commented in this thread several times about lackluster immersive audio and LFE with Disney group being one of the worst. The folks at High-Def Digest and Widescreen Review have made similar comments.

Any statement that says that the LFE coming from the PS4 may be "lackluster" is actually correct. Why? BECAUSE THERE IS NO 5.1 PLAYBACK AVAILABLE YET FOR THE PS4.

That's why I'm clarifying your post. You posted the quote from a guy who said that the LFE was lackluster coming from the PS4. Gee, I wonder why?

I'm glad it's not just me. I was thinking the LFE sucked too but thought it may have been that I was streaming through a PS4.

I have no clue what what the PS4 is doing but normally multi channel audio is down-mixed including LFE.

Looks like I will hold off on the Shield for a while. Streaming continues to be a CF when it comes to formats and hardware!!

Well, I do. Anyone that says that the LFE or 5.1 sound sucks via the PS4 is full of crap. There's nothing there until the firmware gets pushed through. When will that be? Who knows. I can only vouch for the Apple TV 4K.

You just said the Apple was the only way to get Disney+ & Atmos and that was wrong. I am not going to read all the old Dolby documents but I believe down-mixing is a Dolby requirement and since the PS4 can do DD+ it should be capable of down-mixing. Don't really know and don't care.

You posted a quote from a person saying that the LFE sucked via PS4. There is no LFE/surround sound via the PS4 for Disney+ yet. That is wrong. If you don't know or don't care then don't post things like that to try and discredit streaming services. That was obviously the only reason you posted it - it was supposed to be some "stinger."

Now you're being curt and trying to save face.

I don't own a Roku, but in terms of stability and user errors, etc., (from what I've been reading -- there's even a post that's listing all of the error #'s) the A4K seems to be the most stable and reliable of all the devices that stream Disney+.

^If you don't like it when people attempt to "discredit streaming services", then why did you ignore this "stinger":

"I think it’s important to remember that streaming is a shitfest."

Whose comment today was really the harshest about streaming?

Get over yourself. You are implying the 2 channel sound from Disney+ via the PS4 is mono and dialogue only. Have not heard it but I wager it is a down-mix of the 7.1 DD+ and IIRC, is a requirement by Dolby.

Those are some great prices, but there is no deal so sweet, nor any force upon this Earth, that will get me anywhere near to a Walmart, or any other store, on Black Friday.

Nice setup . Have not heard most of your SVS speaker models but have read very good things about them.

What Nvidia Shield do you have? Use IR to control it?

It can't work both ways

Other pro physical posters and also yourself in here often say "How much can you flip your digital movies you bought for!?"

Disney is already fixing Simpsons as I predicted, granted not until 2020.
