My point is that I'd wait for screen captures before buying.

I was reading the previous page banter about which series is better and I gotta say the character of Spider-Man is way too iconic for any one actor or director to define. Even in comics, Spidey couldn't be contained to one run of books. You had Amazing, Spectacular, Marvel Team-up and Web of. All of which had a slightly different feel or take on the character depending on the writers and artists. The films are and should be no different in that respect. I look forward to future iterations, I just don't need a full origin every reboot.

^I feel like there's more development needed for this version of of the film, which was basically your teen-angst Spider-Man. It didn't feel like the coming-of-age movie compared to the first of Raimi's. But that's because the entire movie was set in high school so I'll give it that. They'll flesh it out along the sequels I'm sure.

Maybe I read to much into the "people like you" part. But anyway, I never said I planned on getting it , though I might for Ghostbusters ... but like wise. I'd see screen caps and video clips ('cause it makes another difference seeing them in motion) before getting any of them.

I expected this film to disappoint but it made me a Spiderman fan.
Way better than the Raimi movies...

Until it becomes the norm for every bluray release I'm perfectly content with my standard high definition blurays as long as I can still afford movies in general.
I'm only going to replace my most favorites with 4K versions. I hope studios have to do a true remaster to put any movie in 4K. Studios have released a lot of movies on blu ray without remastering. Star Wars was not remastered and it shows. Hollywood makes Billions they can afford to do it right!

I'm hoping the new transfer isn't as dark and have more pop to it.

Maybe the 4K masters they've been putting on blu have had issues with color and gamma reproduction, hence why a lot of transfers are coming out much darker than they should.

If this new release fixes that issue, then I'm all for them releasing more 4K Master Series discs.

the movie was very dark when I saw it in the theatre. I dont think it will change much.

I saw it opening night at the Arclight and Mark Webb came out and introduced the film saying as much as he loves NYC, he loves LA more and was glad to be here for the first showing. They gave out some t-shirts for some Q&A and then the movie started after 3 previews.

I remember it being dark as well, but it wasn't that dark. Of course they had it calibrated and all, but it didn't look as dark as the transfer we got.

im with the other 80 percent of people in the thread. amazing spiderman was way better then the first 3.It was like watching a chick flick for the whole movie. Which i have no problem doing but not when its to do with superhero movies. i thought the tobey spidermans were worst comic book movies, next to the first hulk. edward norton version was a lot better. Btw bestbuy has this movie in 3d for 20 bucks and so does amazon

With the exception of Spider-Man 2, which is one of my favorite superhero movies, I wasn't really a fan of the Raimi trilogy. I had pretty mixed feelings with this Spider-Man film. I thought the character of Spidey was done much better than the Raimi trilogy. However, mostly everything else was pretty meh. The action sequences were pretty weak, the villain and his plan were pretty lame, and the cgi was so bad. The main issue with the cgi wasn't the quality, but rather the character design. Whoever designed the lizard should be fired. I did, however, absolutely love the chemisty between Garfield and Stone. That made the movie bearable for me. I probably would've been fine with the movie being completely about their realtionship instead of Spidey doing spidey things. If they can nail the action, villain, and effects, Amazing Spider-Man 2 could be nothing short of amazing.

May seem like an odd question, but has anyone happened to see an Amazing Spider-Man in a slim case yet?

I have a copy of the Target Exclusive bonus disc for this film, and I'm looking to trade it for the Walmart Exclusive bonus disc. Anyone interested?

I'd also just buy the Walmart disc straight up.

PM me if so.

Finally got to see The Amazing Spiderman and am glad I only paid $10 for the blu-ray set online. The first 45 minutes felt like I was watching the latest installment of the Twilight series - yuck! Can't say the rest of the movie was much better. No chemistry between Garfield and Stone. I thought the 1st Raimi Spiderman was a whole lot better than this one. I was looking forward to a much darker approach in this film but the director didn't succeed as the action was mediocre and not very interesting. I may be in the minority, but I don't think much of this movie. Hope they make some changes before the a second movie comes out.

Especially since they're kind of dating in real life. Any perceived lack of such chemistry would be on the fault of the awkwardness of the Peter Parker character, not the actors themselves.

I'm very curious about the new 4K Remaster series.
Apparently, the original Sam Raimi's Spider-Man is also getting a 4K release.
Looking forward to a review.

I might actually buy that Raimi one if it doesn't come with horrible quickie cover art.
