vs the US one

So the UK should have DC4K | DCBD | TC/SLV4K | TConly?BD | CloakedBonusFeatBD

Based on the logo treatment on the discs I’d guess the extra disc on the UK set is just the standard Blu of the DE.

I'm getting nearer and nearer cancelling the UK deluxe set.

Just seems not worth it for just the SLV. I have the great TMP visual effects book so I don't need a snippet of it in that set and as such it is only a few mins not in the DE in the SLV that merrits the purchase.

The set itself does not use the great Bob Peak art enough, imagine what this set would look like with that fully utilised. It may have changed people's view of the set when they have a work of art to show on their shelf rather than this 5 min photoshop job.

Not sure if that makes people happy or disappointed. I guess they didn't want to re-mix the 12 added minutes in 7.1
So that is interesting so if you watch the SLV the TE bits will have to be in 2.0 too to branch properly, it cant change the audio mix back and forth that would be jarring and not sure technically if you could do that.

Other interesting thought on whether the SLV would be released again is that you now have a disc mastered that includes the TE and SLV so it is possible that could become the TE disc going forward for any future releases?

On the contrary, the back of the box image that's on Amazon specifically states the "Special Longer Version" is in Dolby Vision.

Maybe the UK will have DC4K | DCBD | TC/SLV4K | BonusFeatBD
The image of the set on Amazon.co.uk still says “Includes 5 discs, Bonus Disc not shown” so it should be…

Directors Edition UHD
Directors Edition Blu-Ray
Theatrical/SLV UHD
Theatrical Blu-Ray
Directors Edition Bonus Disc

Thanks, updated the UK entry's pic and my post as someone had uploaded recently an overview pic w/o the blurb.

I probably wouldn't even consider the deluxe edition if I thought those scenes would be not be fully restored to 4k, because I'd likely never watch it like that. The benefit to me is seeing the SLV in full 4k with the SLV scenes fully restored. But watching lots of older horror films has taught me that often the extended or unrated versions of films use unrestored footage due to bad sources.

The SLV will be in HDR so I'm sure it wouldn't be jumping in and out of HDR, so all the shots are likely fully restored, unless they use inferior sources and upscale to 4k and apply HDR to them just to keep the HDR presentation uninterrupted. But I doubt that's the case.
Hope it's not another ALIEN DC 4K with upscaled inserts.

ALIEN was a different beast (no pun intended...maybe). The "Director's Cut" was finished digitally and there was no cut negative.

TMP was also now finished digitally but in 4K, so there won't be an issue. The back of the box clearly states, "...exclusively contains a 4K Ultra HD with HDR-10 and Dolby Vision disc featuring the 'Special Longer Version' of STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE..."

Hypothetically speculating they would get the entire OG crew films on UHD & BR discs along with all legacy extras such as Journey To The Silver Screen all housed in the saucer section of a glorious Enterprise Refit model.

It would cost $1,000 or so but it would be epic.

The scene with Kirk leaving the docking port to go on his space walk, I never notice the wood set parts on the sides (go figure ). Awhile back, I came across someone who posted their video on youtube and digitally fixed that scene. Did they fix this on the new version? The other problem was Kirk was wearing a different space suit then he did later in the scene when he gets Spock. I was wondering if they could fix this by digitally changing his space suit.
My older brother owned the SLV on VHS along with the rest of the original movies. I was sitting here thinking it had gold on the case - just googled and it was indeed this one.

Good question, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. Their market is known for equally awful and elaborate packaging, when it comes to "Colletor" offerings.

The fact is, the U.S. release of The Complete Adventure - is two of the three versions of The Motion Picture (the 1983 TV version and the Theatrical version in 4k). The Director's version is another purchase for the 4k format.
Take it up with blu-ray.com postings and with thedigitalbits.com postings, not me.
Oh, and by the way, Bill Hunt over at the bits will actually respond to you in a few weeks when he has the time - along with information he received from Paramount.
So, my original writing - this is 1 movie, 2 cuts - is fact.
You honestly think the Complete Adventure set doesn’t include the Directors Edition? because that is just plain nonsense, the 3 disc US set will include…

Directors Edition UHD
Theatrical & SLV branching UHD
Bonus Disc

So it will contain three cuts of the film in that set.

The 4 disc euro set just adds a blu-ray of the Directors Edition and the 5 disc U.K. set will add a blu-ray of the theatrical cut to that.

All very straight forward.

It says Director’s Edition on the front of the box, on the main logo and on most of the discs, and the included poster. Get real.

Just to be clear, ONLY the United States version of The Complete Adventure is what we are referring to.
NOT any other release in September in other countries of The Complete Adventure.
The amount of paranoia and misinformation in this thread is a result of a serious lack of reading comprehension. All of the information is out there about the US release. You can read the back of the box right now at Amazon and clearly see what's included with the package. This has been discussed numerous times here. It says in large letters, "Exclusively featuring all three cuts of the film in 4K Ultra-HD."
