Seems to say a lot about Urban as a person. He hired both of them. I won’t mention the great character guys he recruited at Florida. Good luck with that OSU. I don’t think it’s going to end well there.

I wasn't a member here when OSU hired Urban, but I was against the move. More so because I didn't like the hiring of any big name coach, not just Urban. Truthfully, I wouldn't mind a regime change next season. I do think there's a possible chance.

I don't think it says anything about Urban as a person. It says more about him as a coach like most coaches in college. They'll do whatever it takes to win as long as they don't get caught. Urban as a person has never done anything like what Smith has done. All he did was employ him but he isn't a mirror of Smith as a person.

For selfish reasons I want him to stay in the Big 10. Keep good coaches like that in conference but Louisville is home for him.

I wonder if Brohm's love for Louisville would be enough to get him if a top-tier program like USC came calling. There's a real chance that job could open up and if Brohm's goal is to win a title it could happen at USC, whereas realistically it's not happening at Louisville or Purdue. There's also been mentions of NFL interest in Brohm and I have no idea if he'd rather be a pro coach.

These coaches need to stay and make their respective schools into top tier programs. It's not like Purdue is a MAC team, afterall.

It says he is a low or no character guy. I think it’s obvious to everyone except to a large number of OSU fans. I would think you would expect more from a leader of young men.

I agree - all he did was hire the guy and have him as part of the team, but he definitely knew of all the issues this guy had. Immoral hiring.

If USC cans Clay Helton, I'm almost 100% sure that Lynn Swann will hire Jack Del Rio for HC.

Yes. I know many a USC fan wouldn't be, but I would.

I just want the new HC to get USC back to being a tough, hard-nosed, physical football team again. This finesse crap is fine for other programs but not USC. I think that JDR will get USC back to being USC.

When not if. Another laughable hire if that is true. Must suck as a fan to see that program rot. Personally I like it. CU has 1 Cali WR coming and very possibly a QB from Cali coming.

From someone indifferent towards USC, I would agree. He’s not a flashy hire, but Del Rio is a solid coach.

I don't know if I go that far with Urban. Has he made what turned out to be questionable decisions? Of course, what highly successful coach hasn't, not many. Coach K, Saban, Bobby Bowden, Lou Holtz, Calipari, Steve Spurrier, Bob Stoops, Tom Izzo, do you want me to stop..

Anyway Urban is too loyal to a fault where it finally got him in trouble with Smith. I truly believed he thought he could fix/help Smith and it burned him. Urban's had a lot of good players/coaches come thru his teams as well. So again he is a leader of men or else he wouldn't be as successful as he is but he can't control everybody all the time. That's impossible. You act like all he's had is trouble makers when that is far from the truth.

Add Herman to his list of poor character hires. Look at his Florida program. It was a mess was a mess with knuckleheads he recruited there and then covered for them as they acted a fool. You’re a fan I get it. You’re taking up for your guy. I’m not the only one that sees Urban as a bad guy. This situation has just allowed more people to see it. My child wouldn’t go play for him but if you’re comfortable sending your child to learn life lessons from him that’s your choice. I think there’s plenty of evidence that shows his true character and I don’t believe he’s a high character individual.

Again your singling Urban out as the sole reason for everything that happened at Florida. That's definitely not even close to fair at all. Florida still had issues after he left.

As for Herman, what about him? He's not well liked. So what? If you think he's such a bad person, what does that say about Houston and Texas who hired him as head coach?

As I pointed out many head coaches have had player personnel issue. Urban isn't any different. You are trying to make the case that he is.

Look I'm not going to go back and forth with this. I've made my points about Urban, you made yours. We both feel differently. My feelings aren't going to change on Urban. He is what is but I'm not going to trash him to the point where everything/everybody that he comes across turns into some horrible person and he is the sole reason for it.

Buckeye chiming in to agree with both of you. I have no doubt he knew of Smith's issues the entire time.

Personally, I don't like having to feel dirty rooting for the school I went to, but that's how I've felt this season.

I have a feeling the Meyer era ends from medical reasons (the brain cyst) sooner as opposed to later.
