Never seen any Tarr, held off the DVDs for reasons already mentioned.

I'm very familiar with Tarr and have written quite a bit about him. Werckmeister Harmonies has only 35 takes I believe, in it's 145 minutes. It's one of the top 3 most moving films I've ever seen and his films undoubtedly have the best black and white cinematography I've ever personally seen. Tremendously moving and affecting; I'll never forget Harmonies.

Hanke pales by comparison on many levels to Tarr.

Werckmeister Harmonies is definitely not a blind buy film as many people may not make it through the first 10 minutes (Tarr uses LONG takes).

I'm glad someone besides me actually knows who Tarr is. Satantango would also be terrific, despite its tremendous length.

I'm very happy about Modern Times, though personally, I'd like to have seen either "The Kid" or "City Lights" released first, as these two films never fail to get me all weepy. Just stellar performances in both films...most especially a VERY young Jackie Coogan.

Today I went to the public library of Vienna, and they have tons of Chaplin movies on BD (City Lights, Gold Rush, you name it), all Region B mind you, so I can't watch them at home, as I have a region locked Oppo.
No clue what the PQ/AQ is like on those releases.
