In terms of bluray, it's mainly just the toshiaki toyoda set, ruined heart and new directors from japan (this is OOP) which are proper limited editions (limited run and will not repress) though there are many in which the slipcase version is limited but released again without slipcase. For dvd it's a long longer list as many titles have gone OOP

If I'm getting this right, the full list of Third Window Films Blu-Rays with slipcases is as follows:

Tetsuo: The Iron Man/Tetsuo II: Body Hammer
Tokyo Fist
Bullet Ballet
Lesson of Evil
New Directors From Japan (also limited)
A Snake of June
Ruined Heart (also limited)
Hana-Bi
Kikujiro
Dolls
A Scene at the Sea
Kids Return

If there are any I've missed, feel free to correct me. I don't know how many of these you're still likely to pick up with the slips.

I may have to re-purchase Tetsuo as I cannot find my set.

It should still come with a slip, shouldn't it?

I got mine in Fopp during their Third Window Films sale a while back (a few months maybe) and all of the copies in the branch (Bristol) had slips, but I can't guarantee that they still do.

The one I'm missing that I don't know if I'll still get with a slip is Tokyo Fist. Anybody got any idea if that one is still coming with a slip?

I got mine in the same Fopp sale with a slip.
Pretty sure the above list is correct on slips, it's all the ones I have. I've never been a slip collector, but when I realised I had nearly all of them I had to fill in the gaps!

Tokyo Fist is at the top of my list to get next, but yeah no idea if it'll come with a slip or not. Probably a gamble if you ordered it online from Amazon or elsewhere. I'd probably look for it in Fopp or possibly HMV, or contact an online retailer/seller to verify first.

I have Tetsuo I&II, Bullet Ballet, A Snake of June (signed!), and all five Kitano titles all with slips. I'd like to get Ruined Heart and Lesson of Evil too, but Tokyo Fist still a priority. That said, I won't be distraught if they don't have slipcovers by the time I pick those up...obviously they've each been out for some time already.

I'm still trying to remember why I didn't pick up Tokyo Fist in the Fopp sale. I might ask at the counter next time I'm there as it was on the shelf with a slip for a while after the sale (priced at £18) and one day it just disappeared. I assumed that it had been bought, but I guess it's possible they might have more stock of it out back that they didn't get rid of in the sale.

I doubt Lesson of Evil will come with a slip anymore, as everywhere I've seen it, it's been slipless. I was lucky enough to get one, but you're right that it's not the end of the world if you miss out on it. They're just quite nice to have.

Fantastic!

I know what'll happen. I'll buy it again and my original copy will reappear.

I really must sort out my shelving.

Darn. I knew I should have picked it up. I'll try a few stores before I order online then. Cheers for the info!

Wish i picked up a few more from amazon when they were reduced, hoping Kikujiro and Dolls get a price reduction again so i can pick these up, can't afford too much right now, Tetsuo i want too.

Third Window is becoming one of my favorite distributors, most of the releases interest me, this thread should be stuck and deserves more love.
Thanks for the heads up, pre-ordered both.

I'm gradually picking up items from the TWF catalogue myself. I've been focusing on the DVDs mainly to avoid missing them before they go OOP and there are some real gems in there. Lala Pipo, Bleak Night and Kick the Moon are excellent films that I might have missed otherwise.

Thanks for the links, both pre-ordered here too. I bought every release last year so since Christmas has been the only time I haven't had one of their releases on pre-order in a very long time, good to have some more to look forward to!

I saw Destruction Babies at the cinema today. Great movie. Painfully violent. Looking forward to the TWF release.

Third Window have apparently had some trouble with a sales agency, so their upcoming titles like Fires on the Plain, Getting Any? and Ken & Kazu are delayed indefinitely - though they do hope to still get them all released this year. Hope they get through it unscathed, and I plan on eventually getting those first two!

Hope they can sort it all out. Was going for Fires and Getting Any? as well (and already sold my Korean disc of the latter).

I saw the tweet ("Sorry to say that many of our upcoming releases will have to be temporarily held up due to being screwed over by a UK sales agency!"), but didn't know which titles it involved. How do you know the titles rapta?

An update on the current situation:
Due to the current mess we've been totally screwed with, we need to temporarily postpone the releases of FIRES ON THE PLAIN, GETTING ANY and KEN & KAZU.
Though, since it's just a month away, DESTRUCTION BABIES is still good to go!
We still hope to sort this mess out within the next couple months, so still plan on having the other titles out in 2017, we just don't know when.

You can't go wrong with a bit of Kitano. Definitely recommend checking out the Third Window releases of his other stuff. Wonderful films.

Still hoping for UK releases of Violent Cop, Boiling Point and especially Sonatine someday...
