I remember the movies changed some things up a little, but for the life of me I can't remember what was actually different about the movies from the series... old age setting in, I guess.

Anyway, I am soon going to be showing this series to my mother, and I'm trying to decide which format would be the better to show her...
I like the series better, because there are some little character moments that are cut out of the movie compilations that I feel are nice touches. But the movies do clean up the animation quite a bit, they look better than the series by far.

Well shit. I hate digi-paks. I may actually skip this one. Don't care for the cover or look of any of it actually. Disappointing.

Ooo, nice that we're getting a digipak just like a Japanese release... It is a little plain compared to the vivid color of the artwork on Your Lie in April.

Well almost the same, 3 discs instead of 4 but that's cool. So, i guess that means volume 2 will be similar but with black as the main colour instead of white. Nice.

These will probably be dvd size as well. Why can't companies keep things consistent. Thought I could at least depend on Aniplex for that.

We haven't seen anything about the size of the sets. They copied AoJ's FSN UBW and F/Z but made them BD sized so I can see that happening with these sets. Plus, aside from the Madoka LEs, which AoA domestic releases have been DVD sized?

Just the Rouroni Kenshin movies, that I'm aware of - and those aren't wide box sets...

I was taking measurements off the image with a ruler just to be sure, and it appears the AoA box is BD size.

For some reason, I knew Erased would be getting a digipack.

I know there a lots of blind-buyers in this forum. I wonder how people will react when
[Show spoiler]they realize how much the writing quality drops in the 2nd half of the show
.

I need them! I'm sure despite how plain it looks from the pics...it will look super nice in person with all of the texture on the box. It's Aniplex after all!

Or at least final 2 episodes, I don't usually get so salty about endings but those last two episodes ruined the whole show for me.
Might still pick it up though.

Huh, the booklet is rather thick. Still wonder if AoA will be missing pages (particularly the meatier stuff) like usual.

Also a digipak, huh... If only they did that more often. Hopefully the build quality is much better than what they did with say The Garden of Sinners DVD LE. They're the cheapest quality digipaks I own.

Also, for those that own the S1 Durarara!! DVDs which were also in digipaks, how was the build quality on those?

Won't personally affect me that much though as I have no interest in buying the show, even at FUNi/Sentai pricing. Decently enjoyed it despite it never being that good to begin with, but not enough to bother wanting to own the show. I ultimately found it to be mediocre quality-wise.

It looks to be just a cardboard box a la YLiA, and not chipboard, so I'm at least hoping for a nice matte finish on the boxes. The digipak in the photo looks to be a decent quality one, and not flimsy like a Funi digipak. I'm hoping we get the key art or something more colorful on the back/outside of the digi - it's not nice for them not to show that side to us yet...
