I agree that most times the items pick up fine, but sometimes you'll be standing there and it skips right over what item you wanted if you're not standing just right. It's not a glitch, but just an interface issue sometimes among other interface concerns. Another interface issue would be the awful stamina during swimming. You only have about a minute before Arthur drowns, so swimming is definitely not a good option, but it's good that it's there. One more problem is while riding a horse, Arthur automatically puts away his weapons, and then the mission starts and you sometimes can't even access them as the horse disappears. It's a solid game, but I can definitely list all of the immersion breaking glitches I've experienced so far, mostly during missions. There are quite a few, and it takes me out of the experience. Another example would be when Arthur is in a cutscene, and goes to step into a tent, and magically passes right through the cloth door as it rests without even moving. Then when he's finished talking, he passes right through it again. It makes the moment seem awkward when it shouldn't be. Another one, would be during a good number of missions, I just get the command to protect a character and I'm not kidding, but literally one second later it's game over and the screen turns gray and it says I failed to protect the character before I even had a chance to react. It doesn't happen the second try thankfully. One more, is when I was in a mission with Dutch and Micah in the railroad town, the sun was moving so fast and looping back and forth, that all of the shadows and lighting during the day were flickering by too quickly, and it took me right out of the moment of the story being told. Here's a big glitch. I was in Chapter 5, and when I was allowed to free roam for the first time, I started running and discovered a massive glitch that lets you wander across giant mountains that were only meant to be distant background art, with cardboard like trees, nothing at all on the ground, surfaces you pass right through, and the ground being minimal polygons with a blurred, muddy, one color texture map. I was wandering around that area for about 50 minutes and it's not even supposed to be accessible. But it definitely took me out of the story. Only click on this video I made of it if you completed chapter 5: [Show spoiler] Other glitches are more minor, but once again, break the immersion of the game. I'll suddenly be given an option to ask a character a question, and Arthur will start talking and literally a mere second later, it totally interrupts him and goes off on another topic, but thankfully gets back to what he was saying afterwards. The timing of it is awful since they just introduced the option to talk, but then as soon as you press the button a second later, Arthur doesn't even get out a full sentence and it interrupts him with something else. Some other glitches: Horses and characters standing on a surface almost sideways, until they flip horizontally. When returning from sleep mode on the PS4, if you had the game on the menu screen when you left it, it'll resume, but Arthur will not be able to walk or move for more than a step or two at a time. Then you have to let go of the analog stick, and press again, only to see him take a step or two again. During a mission when this happened, Michah and Dutch kept saying, "What are you waiting for Arthur" or something along those lines. I had to reset the game to get him walking again. I don't want to bring up these issues, but they definitely affect the immersion of the game's great story and characters, and it's not something I ever experienced at this level in a previous Rockstar game. I'm playing without any updates from the disc version on a regular PS4 2013 model. Even with all of the glitches I've experienced though, I still give this game an 8/10 so far, and I'm very much enjoying it. A great value for the money in RDR2 for certain. I don't regret buying it, but just felt the need to say it's in need of more fine tuning with the next patch/update, which surprises me, knowing Rockstar's great quality control over the years. |

Yeah, the stalker hat rules.
I had a pretty good beard going on with Arthur, but I ended up going with the "Brigadier" style so now he's got this gnarly mustache and side burns haha. I haven't gotten a hair trim yet. I just slap some pomade on. |

Only two so far but first one felt like it took forever to reel in. The second one I caught I did not cast my line out too far. So was less distance to reel in. Will have to test on further fish to see if this works.

A big part of RDR2 is about traveling across the wilderness, which is one reason they made the stage coaches and fast travel rare events, requiring the player to either ride or jog to the next mission point. Thankfully the wilderness is one of the best created in video gaming, which some truly epic scenery to gaze at, and an open world that doesn't feel linear, like Fallout New Vegas or even GTAV's narrow map that is partially blocked by giant mountains. Neversoft's old western game, GUN, back on the PS3 I believe, also had a very linear map, before RDR1 appeared. I never played RDRevolver because it was more of an action game I believe.
I think I'm getting near the point when the southwest will finally be unlocked hopefully. That's going to be cool to revisit the locations of the old game. But I haven't done any research, so maybe that area isn't [Show spoiler]

I just made my way to Saint Denis today. I wanted to shoot
[Show spoiler] I'll explore Saint Denis more tomorrow and maybe buy myself a new outfit. Tons of missions opened up too as soon as I showed up. The end of chapter 3 was awesome!

Epilogue 1 is interesting so far. Here's hoping the southwest finally opens up soon now that I'm about to check out
[Show spoiler] Taking cover can be a challenge, as the character sometimes doesn't line up at the best angle if the cover is a tree for example, and is taking cover but is completely exposed to gun fire, even though the tree is wide enough for full cover. A quick pull away from the tree and R1 again sometimes works for better cover against fire. So one thing I noticed is I neglected my camp for almost the entire game through [Show spoiler]

Had an encounter with
[Show spoiler] in Saint Denis today. The bastard straight up killed me. Could not find an answer online to whether he re-spawns after the first encounter, so was dreading to have to load up an older save and lose some of progress with hunting requests I have had. But it turns up he does eventually show up again. Now, I am hunting for those bastard egrets. I have seen a couple of them before, but now, when I need them, they are of course nowhere to be found. Oh, yeah, also got robbed for around $1,000 by some guy who lured me into an alley to give me a tip on how to earn some money. I guess I am far too trusting for this game. ![]() |
