Wondering what I’ll be doing today? New job is going fine, but the store manager likes to do the training too much from the hip. Although the computers getting jacked up due to the blackout on Sunday didn’t help. So grading on a curve at the moment.

I can't function properly in hot weather. Everything seems to take more of an effort to accomplish in this weather, plus it's hard to breathe in the soupy humidity. Thankfully it's all about to end soon. I don't know how people in the South live like this year round.

i would say you get used to it....but all you really do is tolerate it.

oh, and it's not year round...at least not where i live. it can get pretty cold (to us, anyway) during winter.

It SUCKS trust me, I hate it but the fall is beautiful and the winter totally bearable...I'm originally from NY so I don't mind the cold weather and walk around in flip flops much to the chagrin of my fellow Southern brethren.

Back in 1984 I spent 3 months ( July, Aug, Sept) in the field out at White Sands Missile Range doing a
prolonged Hot Weather Field Test for the Patriot Missile System. ( this is before it was officially deployed into service )

Which turned out to be a good thing since in 1990 it was deployed to the Middle East for Operation Desert Shield.

I actually got a couple of Army Achievement Medals for Issues I found ( and found a fix for )
in the Missile Command & Control Center Communication System

Just some buggy little hot weather related things, which is why we do the tests

I can't wait to get the next week or two of work over with. About half of my coworkers have quit in the last week and they're piling the hours onto the 3-4 of us who remain. Even worse is that two of those workers want to quit or change departments. The hours and paychecks will be great but I'm gonna be beat until after Labor Day.

Glad my apartment maintenance people reactivated my ethernet port in my apartment today. I have my Xbox plugged into it because still in 2019 gaming on wifi is trash. They turned off all ethernet ports last week with no warning. They finally sent out emails on Monday only stating they turned them off, no explanation as to why. But they did say if you want yours reactivated, just fill out this form.

Anyone with network knowhow have any idea why an apartment building would turn off all the ethernet ports?

thinking about the news i just got at work...

they're moving around a few department supervisors and i don't think any of them are happy about it. none of them have a choice, though; they're making the changes regardless.

and i gotta say i, along with a few of the other regulars, aren't too happy, either. the people in their current positions are good at their job and doing well.

so we're all just like....WTF?!

Feeling a bit relieved right now. The girl I met the other day wanted to ask me a question and asked if she could. It got me a little nervous. The question I used to hate the most was why are you single. 'Oh, well how much time do you have?'
But it turns out that she just asked me if the language barrier was a problem as she speaks English pretty well but you can tell it's not her first language. I look forward to helping her and am glad that she welcomes the help and won't be offended. I told her that she can teach me Spanish too
