Odd question as I try to plan out my flash sale order(s)—is it possible to use more than one Criterion gift card on a single order, or is there a limit of one code for each?

I do think "Mad World" is worth seeing via the Criterion, even if the MGM disc is cheap. The roadshow cut is best watched with the commentary, plus the CBC premiere is pretty neat, as is the piece on the special effects. There's also the advertising gallery with an intro with Stan Freberg. Not to mention it has a vastly better cover (the Blu-ray, like the DVD, re-used the awful VHS artwork).

Putting my list together for the upcoming flash sale. I'm looking at these three and then getting my $50 loyalty/gift card. Hoping to get and use it the same day...

Anyone else have their list ready? I'm looking at these:

Great choices! I watched Local Hero (again) last night. What a wonderful movie, I love it so much.

Do we think Twin Peaks: The Return could be joining the Criterion Collection? I know Janus Films tweets about random things sometimes but these are suspicious.

This tweet especially with the picture from the new season and the quote being about a secret. Plus, the show's 30th anniversary is coming up.

I sort of hope not, and I'm not sure what Criterion could do to make it worth double (triple) dipping. The current release(s) are loaded with special features and have fantastic video/audio presentations...

Who knows, though. They released FWWM and I didn't really see the point of that either. Ha...

You are right, their FWWM is a mostly pointless release. But if they could finally release the deleted/extended scenes from season 3 (I know for a fact there are some), I could see them doing it and getting everyone to triple dip for them. And releasing it because Lynch sees it as a film even though it technically aired as a TV series seems totally up their alley.

I would be very curious to see each disc as reimagined larger parts of the "film." Essentially, there would be no end credits after each part and there would be one big final end credits for the entire "film." I am frankly shocked the existing CBS releases didn't do this and I could see Criterion doing something like this to make it "new." I would be interested to see how it all flows together.

I doubt it will happen, but all Criterion has to do is release it in UHD and suddenly, it's not pointless anymore.

Also fair! Criterion seems to not want to venture into the UHD market yet, though.

Would anyone please enlighten me as to how FWWM was a "pointless" release? It's the only standalone Blu-ray of the film in the US. Not everyone has the habit of buying boxsets just for one single title.

I believe it's also the only standalone that contains The Missing Pieces.

That's a fair point but I didn't realize there were any fans of FWWM that aren't also fans of the series and wouldn't rather just buy them together.

I have the Criterion FWWM and the Z to A Box and would probably by anything else Twin Peaks if Criterion release it... I think Twin Peaks is something fans will collect anything of

I do wish Criterion would do some more TV releases. Id buy a Columbo bluray box set in a second! Staying with Lynch, On the Air would be nice

It could also allow the season to be recontextualised as a David Lynch film, rather than presented as a TV series boxset. Or allow people who don't have the money for the Z to A set an opportunity to get just this season with the additional extras.

The 40 minutes of new extras were very insightful, however I only watched them as rips (still out there) as I already own the boxset.

I don't see what else could have been added unless someone really thinks a legitimate release of the FWWM fan edits incorporating The Missing Pieces would have been possible.

Columbo is available internationally and I remember Kino Lorber Insider saying they were rejected their requests to release On the Air and Hotel Room. Only viewed On the Air with Japanese subs!

Why would any TP fan buy just FWWM?

I'm looking to watch a comedy tonight on The Criterion Channel. If you had to pick one, what would it be and why?

I watched IAMMMMW for the first time ever last week or so - extended cut only so far - & loved it. Extra scenes do add to the film.
If you are gonna buy a film just once, go for the best version, no?
