My deepest thanks go out to everyone here who reported on the new French version and answered everyone's questions.
Mine just arrived from Amazon France, and it's amazing. This is one of my favorite soundtracks of all time, so the missing chorus on Universal's domestic release was pretty devastating (and immediately obvious). It's wonderful to finally have a Blu-ray that not only replaces the missing chorus but also fixes the other audio and video issues. Thanks again to everyone who kept pushing for the corrections! |

This is awesome news, the film's fully uncut and the audio's presented properly.
Is the source of the transfer the same as the one released over here in the U.K. or is it a different transfer? Also does the menu have to be changed to a language other then English for the film to play uncut or can it be played uncut with the English menus? My BD is the censored one with the fixed audio and the night filter during the wolf chase scene left intact, so I'd love to get my hands on this French Steelbook. Good question as I was thinking maybe a different transfer since it's a different cut? The U.S. version looks too "video-like" to me in some scenes where as other scenes are fine.

Upon inserting the disc, I was not prompted by a menu to select my region. I use a region A PS4. Everything was default to English. I'm not sure if changing languages, or playing in a different region player will force the cut version... |

![]() Yeah it looks like you can play the uncut version whilst keeping everything set to English. I need to pick this set up, thankfully I haven't picked up The Destroyer on BD yet. ![]() Last edited by The Fallen Deity; 01-23-2014 at 06:23 PM. |

If you put it in Region B player, you must choose a language other than English! If you search the pages back, someone says about it.. |

It's cool that it works on region A players without any problems though. ![]() |

Here's the different editions that I can think of on the top of my head: The U.S. release by Universal: This has the shorter version of the film. The audio's also faulty on it's 5.1 track and the night filter during the wolf scene is missing. The film's fully uncut though. The U.K. release by Fox (1st pressing): Has the same issues as the U.S. BD, the only difference is that the film's presented in its extended cut & it's censored. But there's a loophole to watch the uncut version. The U.K. by Fox (2nd pressing): All the issues from the 1st pressing & the U.S. BD are fixed & the original mono mix was included, also all the international languages were dropped from the disc. Unfortunately it only has the censored version of the film and the loophole was removed. The French Steelbook by MGM: Overall it's the same as the 2nd pressing of the U.K. disc, the only difference being that the film's uncut now. ![]() I'm also guessing that it has a French language option seeing as it's a French release lol. All these different editions were sourced from the same HD master. I hope this info helps. ![]() Last edited by The Fallen Deity; 01-23-2014 at 06:48 PM. |

![]() I thought as much, it's just like the old Fox BD minus the crappy audio & the colour timing error. ![]() |

Let me ask you: although they were all sourced from the same master, was any processing applied differently such as EE or DNR? For example, like what we saw with the different T2 releases. Last edited by HeavyHitter; 01-23-2014 at 07:48 PM. |

There's no DNR on any of them. http://www.caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergl...?hd_multiID=26 The DE disc is the same as the U.K. version. |

Just received the French Steelbook today but am unable to play the uncut version using PowerDVD 12 on my PC. I've changed the country code to France but it still plays the discs English menus and the cut version. I reside in region B.
I just wondered if anyone has got this working without changing the code to region A. Edit: Got it working on my LG BD player no problems just doesn't work on the PC. Last edited by BlueAngel7; 01-29-2014 at 05:38 PM. |
