Right? Shout Factory is still paying a large licensing cost to WB for the Theatrical Cut version.
Well, Scream's full announcement does kinda read like that is what WB said, though obviously it's not explicit either way.

Not a very good sequel, I'd wager. The original cost $11 Million, and that was in 1989 money!

Selling out of a tent-pole release, even if it's a limited variant, is something you typically expect to do down the line so I can see why Shout Factory is upping the run. You want people to see this in store shelves, you want word-of-mouth and reviews to get people talking about the damned thing, and (hopefully) talking about the label releasing it. Selling out is good, but selling out after you've earned nothing but praise - particularly from an audience as rabid as Clive Barker fans - is even better.

Yeah, I know, it's kind of bullspit that they're doubling the print run and not changing the price (and it's always been BS that they're not discounting from their own site, but whatever...), but if that "X out of 5,000" sticker was really the thing you were throwing money down on, I dunno' what to tell you. It's an interesting film, this restoration defies the odds, and I'm happy to have the over the top collector's edition. If you aren't happy with the news, let Shout Factory slowly sell out for the next year. They'll get to 10,000 sales in due time, even without the scalpers buying spares.

FN & Christine was sold to people as a limited number and yet they are doing reissues.

It doesn't matter if it's after the 3 years & TT adds 1 or 2 new features on the reissues because people like me wanted some new features to begin with but didn't get them. So now I would have to pay $35 for Christine again just to get new stuff that should have been on the last release in a normal production run. Yet others here are still ok for them but not for Scream which I find ridiculously wrong.

When are they doing reissues of Fright Night and Christine?

Next year, as well as Journey to the Center of the Earth. All three will be getting new special features, and Journey will be a 4K master.

The audio will be a heavily remixed version of the VHS workprints they found a few years ago. It's not great quality for obvious reasons, but as this footage was never mixed, given any ADR (ie: overdubbing for poor quality audio) and has no new music to attach to it, it's all we were ever going to get.

I see. Will be quite hard to enjoy the DC then, huh?

To be fair, those films aren't readily available in this region. Nightbreed will be available outside of the Limited Edition.

It matters because TT said their releases would be limited for 3 years and stuck to that, whereas SF said theirs would be limited to 5000 copies and then reneged.

I pre ordered this as a blind buy to support my favorite company Shout/Scream Factory, but now feel as adding 5000 more copies makes this not feel as special as it did before & im on the fence about even purchasing it. Think i should rent it & decide if its worth it to me. They should atleast lower the price $10 to $20.

First off Warner made the decision
Second - there were 5000+ unhappy fans who missed out and Scream requested to have more made and Warner approved of it. So now 5000 more fans can own this movie, Im happy for them...Its called customer service...and good business. More buyers for this product if they choose to purchase it.
So what 5000 became limited to 10000..
Sometimes I read these comments and Im embarrassed for those who just rant and rave over sweet little nothings like that ..oh no 5000 became 10000 the humanity !!

By that logic, all 10,000 should be sold out by morning.

Oops, I forgot about the 3,000 order cancellations that will probably occur in the next few days. But still, those "5,000+ unhappy fans" out there (exactly how did you come up with that number?) can now buy it, so it's all good.

I have a feeling more and more of the smaller companies are going to start going with the "Limited Edition" model.

It will be interesting to see how long this takes to sell out.

It's kind of funny to see who is also posting on the Facebook thread. The quotes are almost identical.

Its funny that you think this limited edition only appeals to the people of forums like this one. Im sure they are doing just fine in sales from Clive Barker fans who pay three times as much for his limited run books.
