I never said you were. I described people doing stuff that I think is annoying. But if you think you fit that description, then maybe you have a guilty conscious. But I don’t know, this is my first time seeing this account post.

Well, I got in my Italian blu ray, and it is a thing of beauty.
![]() Also, some other well-meaning family member knew my love of the film and thought that they were doing a service for me and ordered and gifted me a 'not official' BD of it that they got off of eBay, LOL. I do NOT recommend or endorse doing that, and I didn't. Some well-intentioned person did it for me, and I hadn't the heart to tell them, after the fact, that they shouldn't have. I don't promote or recommend that, but I gotta say, these people have gotten AMBITIOUS with these boots, LOL. This thing has a very nice slip cover and everything, LOL. It has a slip, a blu amaray case, nice artwork (all in English) all the right official looking logos, everything. The disc itself is a BD-50, I believe. There is just a static menu with Play Movie, or Scene Selection. It has 15 chapters. It appears to be sourced from the AppleTV+ stream (BD-R, of course). Looks and sounds great, and has the forced English subs for the Osage bits. If I didn't know better, I would have thought this was an actual, legit, Paramount release. They even have the correct font for how Paramount lists, runtime and year of release on the back. Region A. LOOKS official. I remember when you could obviously tell bootlegs were bootlegs, LOL. Anyway, DO NOT buy one of these. Please support the film through official channels. I got in my Italian BD from Eagle Pictures the same week. Gifted the boot Sunday, Italian BD arrived Tuesday. So, I've got two BD physical versions of the film, now. I will still buy an official US release whenever one is forthcoming. From Paramount, Criterion, whoever. I've now seen the film entirely 5 times. Three times in the theater, and twice on streaming Apple. I've jumped through both BDs and just glanced here and there. Plan to watch it soon again, on the Italian BD. |

![]() Then I watch other films. And I'm like average to below average actor. But I look around me, and the rest of the world is creaming their pants. I'm like wow - people really have lust for him or maybe they like him too much. So its basically just that, I literally never saw any merit in him, nothing that made him stand out even remotely. But the rest of the world want to fight as to who gets to ride his balls the hardest. Regarding his best and worst performances. I think his best might be J. Edgar. And worst might be Killers or Wolf of Wall Street. But there are many candidates. I just find him cartoonish and buffoonish, like a massive try hard, a gigantic ham, who is screaming and shouting and overacting most of the times. I personally don't care for that kind of performance style at all. I like best absolutely stone-faced performers, who are doing as little as possible for the camera. |

Just watched this. The story is a great one. I found the movie good, but not great. Leo has mastered DeNiro’s grumpy, rubber face (sadly). I thought, besides the face, he handled his role well. DeNiro’s role seemed liked one he has played before so nothing new there. I thought Lilly did a good job, but I don’t see how much was asked of her. Unsure about an Academy nomination for that although we do live in “special times” now. That ending……

Yeah, we live in a zone of interest, with those Oscars noms and voters.
Unfortunately this is not Scorsese’s year. |

I watched it on AppleTV+ a few days ago as I still have a coupon for three months free from Pizza Hut.
It wasn't bad, but I got bored after a bit because it just moves so slow. I think I would have stayed interested if it was about 30 minutes shorter. |

I thought it was really interesting from the aspect of showing a piece of history I wasn't fully aware of. Especially with it being American history and a western. The movie is a winner just on that alone.
Good characters and performances. DiCaprio was the standout for me. A lot of people are just writing him off as being a one note villainous character, but I think he's very nuanced. He obviously loves his wife and kids. He also loves and respects his uncle, who is a very powerful influential man and the sole reason he is in the town in the first place. So he does what his uncle tells him to do. 100 years ago people were more likely to "respect their elders" and not question things and just go along with it. He's also a military veteran. So he's used to falling in line and taking orders from a "superior". You can see throughout the film how stressed and conflicted he is. He wears the stress on his face. I see him as a very sympathetic character. |

He is human, but he's also not a particularly interesting person. Once you know he has no backbone, there's not much more you need to know about him.

[Show spoiler] Human beings are often masses of contradictions and the rationalizations and mental gymnastics we perform to try to reconcile them are maddening and fascinating in about equal measure.Real-world participants in atrocities against our species far more often resemble Ernest Burkhart than they do, say, Adolf Hitler or Ed Kemper. You may or may not find that food for interesting thought. |
