Has anyone been watching TCM's Monday nights of "Moguls & Moviestars"? Each Monday they do a decade of the history of Hollywood, and after they show some of the films of that decade. Tonight's hour doc, they are showing the 20's. After, films like Sunrise and the Iron Horse. They will re-show it Wednesday, with some Chaplin, Keaton, and Lloyd films.

Also, TCM's website has a wonderful page about their own show.

Seriously. Why that movie seems to be rarely uttered around here is a mystery to me. Last Year At Marienbad is by far my favorite Criterion at this point, but Wages of Fear is a relatively close second.

I caught some of the first one (and dvr-ed it for later), is this the second episode, or did I miss one (probably did, was pretty busy last week)?

Edit: Looks like I did miss last week's chapter. Lots of classic films coming up this week, too.

Tonight's episode is the third one. The whole series runs 'til the middle of December.

Wages of Fear is a great Criterion film, and the reason for it being so unnoticed is pretty baffling. While it's not my favorite Criterion, that honor going to either Revanche or Seven Samurai, it's still one of my favorites.

I really want to LOVE this film Beta! I watched it on NetFlix and

[Show spoiler]was disappointed at the ending, after sitting on the edge of my seat for most of the film. It just seemed like a dopey ending...Clouzot could have at least have him drive over one of the discarded charges on the way back and blown up the truck. The dopey driving was just a disappointing way to end the film for me.

The MGM one actually has a better transfer of the film, and comes with better special features than the OOP criterion DVD.

I would love a blu copy of "Jules & Jim." It's my favorite Truffaut, and quite possibly one of my favorite Criterion releases of all time. I would also be happy to have a blu upgrade of "Shoot the Piano Player."

I'm glad to see someone else that loves Revanche as much as I do. One of the more underrated recent films Criterion has put out. Supplements are not great but the movie is easily one of my favorites. Such a beautiful counter to all of the boring revenge cinema out there.

I always think everyone that has any sort of interest in Avant-Garde should get the Brakhage set. It is easily my favorite Criterion release. Sets like this are why I love Criterion. I don't see it mentioned often, but I recommend it to anyone that knows what they would be getting into.

I'm actually really excited to watch The Wages of Fear. I'd rather have no one really hyping it up and a few people talk about how nobody talks about it and it's one of the best CC's as opposed to everyone on the site talking about how great Chungking Express is, or whatever.

Oh, I absolutely love Revanche. It's just a beautiful looking film, and that's what I love most about it.
