+1.
It seems that the US release was very brief indeed and didn't seem to receive the same publicity as their other releases. I guess we can only hope for a return to the US market with the extras on disk. I do have the DVD version of this set, but was hoping to upgrade.

I guess all I can hope for is that when they come out of the vault again, Disney returns to the Beauty and the Beast format.

Shame there wasn't an option to have the original edit of Deems Taylor's voice, even if it was incomplete. Anyone else annoyed by the overdubbing? Is it like this on every dvd-Blu release?

Disney said the original voice tracks were in unusable condition. All the discs have his voice dubbed over.

Really? Why? Not enough people use it? I, personally, never used the feature but I thought I was in the minority.

Not unusable, but missing. It seems that the best audio elements are the mono mix from the 1947 release and the 4-track remix for the 1956 re-release.

It would have made more sense to keep the film in its 1947 version with complete animation, but shorter live-action segments and just include the extended Taylor scenes as an extra.

So if BD-Live was supposed to be a hit and is not, can we hope for digital copies to disappear? I am not joking here, I think they are pointless.

Considering the popularity of Smart Phones, Tablets, and Ipods, don't hold your breathe on that.

If I'd have to guess, since it costs them money to maintain the cloud storage of the special features, they figured they can phase it out to save money. The fact that this hasn't caused a public outrage would validate their decision.

They aren't pointless and BD-live was far less popular.

When I was a boy I saw "Fantasia" with the original Deems Taylor commentary. The "overdub" sounds just like it. Not an issue as far as I'm concerned. Now, as to where the hell the EXTRAS are!!!!! ---THAT'S another story!
I've never been able to download the "Fantasia/Fantasia2000" extra content from the BD-Live site which is why I do not gift my young relatives with my COMPLETE dvd box set!

I understand that some people enjoy the digital copies and while I have no use for them, I don't think they should eliminate them as there are a lot of people who get use out of them. I do, however, think they need to get rid of the disc and simply use a code.

What I think is pointless is a DVD copy. I bought the Blu-ray version to get the Blu-ray, not the DVD. Digital copies or UV codes can be used if people want a portable copy. There's no need to include a DVD, especially when it jacks up the price of the title.

I disagree. I want my DVD copy. My computer plays DVD, and the only Blu-Ray player I have is my parents (right now). So while I'm collecting all of the Disney titles - I can currently only watch them on DVD most of the time.

Ok. It's just that I, personally, don't like paying the extra money for something I don't need. If anything, the studios should release two versions: one Combo and one BD only.

Digital Copies I don't bother with anyway, I prefer the DVD and Blu-Ray together only.

They've done that in the past, and the BD-only disc sometimes has fewer Bonus Features than the combo pack. Or, the BD-only disc winds up costing the same or actually more than the combo pack.

Yeah, off the top of my head I know they did that for The Princess & The Frog, along with Prince of Persia. The Princess disc was identical to the combo pack, but the Prince of Persia was missing an extensive bonus feature.

I'd don't mind the DVD copy because I give it to my younger niece. The digital copy discs need to go though, considering everyone else is just using codes now except 21st Century Fox. Chances are they're doing it so it's not as easy to sell the DC for a profit because most people won't take the time to ship a disc.

I'm pretty sure the Virtual Vault is down for Pocahontas as well and that was only released 9 months ago. When I heard about the BD-Live thing, I bought the Fantasia Anthology off of eBay. Glad I did. Kept my Lion King DVD as well. I did try the Virtual Vault once, but my player took forever to load the content. I imagine it would've worked better on my PS3 but didn't have the chance to try it.

Aside from those 3 titles, did any other release use the Virtual Vault?

I generally like DVD copies even if I never use them. I don't use digital copies either but understand the utility of them.

What Disney SHOULD do with the Fantasia 2000 disc is to unlock the special features.

It's been mentioned before, but all the bonus material that is supposedly only available to stream via BDLive, are actually on the disc, hidden away!

The only problem is that those contents are inaccessible. Now, if Disney just gives a key via BDLive to watch the stuff instead of having it streamed, problem solved.

Is there anything we can do? Cause that's really annoying. Whenever I tried watching the Special Features through the Virtual Vault I remember it taking forever to begin streaming. If we mobilize and ask politely, maybe they'll make it available somehow.
