It had already been removed from digital copies before the new blu-ray was released.

As I said above, I remember the scene in closing credits. However I don't remember it doing much for the movie. Also good to know that if I had gotten the digital copy prior to the new disc release, it would have been gone anyway.

They could have included it as a deleted scene, but it was probably never really considered part of the movie itself since it was in the credits.

I got the new editions as part of signing up for Disney Movie Club again. I'd never seen Toy Story 2 in its entirety before, but had seen the end credits before, so I was aware of that moment, and had heard that they were cutting it in future releases. I was hesitant to believe they'd bother altering Blu-Ray masters until I saw the new discs with Toy Story 4 promos.

Anyway, watched it for the first time tonight. I'm formally against altering films post-release, unless the new version is a bonus or the original is still available. Still, I don't think this is up there with what they plan for Dumbo (cutting the crows from the original animated version is just too much), or the infamous Star Wars Special Editions, or the Director's Cut of Picnic at Hanging Rock. It's a joke that isn't particularly funny and never should've been made in the first place.

And, you know, while film collectors can collect these releases, ultimately, Disney puts these out for families and think they're taking one for the parents who don't want to have their kids asking "Why did he say he could get them in Toy Story 3?"

Does the Toy Story 4-Movie Collection have the uncut "bloopers" of Toy Story 2?

I would imagine not. Most of those bundles are just the current releases of the movies packaged together vs buying them individually.

No the 'edited' disc was included in the 4K release or if you bought the newer 2019 release with updated slipcover
If you have teh 2010/2011/2015 releases the scenes should still be there.

I've fairly sure all hte digital copies were 'updated'

Oh how nice! When transfers get remastered, they don't usually update the digital copies. But when it comes to tampering with the original movie, THEN it's ok to update them.

Yep, the only way to watch it in 1080p now is by having the 2010, 2011, or 2015 discs.

Is this still true? Does the 2015 disc have this scene?

Yes, the 2019 version was the first to have it cut.

I don't know, were children asking parents that question the 20ish years between the original release of the film and when Disney edited it? Their timing suggests virtue signaling.

This is the reason I ultimately talked myself out of 4K. I was on the fence about it as I really didn't want to re-buy ALL my movies for the fourth or fifth time again, but thought maybe I'd settle on going after my favorite collections. I was seriously thinking about going after the PIXAR films to start it off, and then Disney pulled this crap. So I just settled with my Blu-ray copies.

CBS showed the way with the TOS Blu-rays which had BOTH the original cheap effects and the brand new remastered effects on the same disc! I have no issues with altering the original as long as the original is still made available.

Realizing of course Disney very likely NEVER had any intent on doing that since it's basically impossible to cut that 6 minutes out of a 65min movie.

It's amazing that one non connected blogger who historically wrote paid puff ads for Disney Hotels got as much traction adn apparently still is. Not one other reporter or Disney person has ever given that rumor any credence or repeated it from an independent source. The only reports were linked to that one person or people quoting that reporter or 4 layers or reports which eventually traced back to a single paragraph that never showed any evidence other than "I said so"

Thanks to this thread I went directly to Ebay and found a 2010 Toy Story 2. I never bought the early ones on bluray until I splurged in the Best Buy BF sale and bought every Disney 4K steelbook title on sale.

Probably won't be a collector's item but I hate when companies edit out stuff for the PC Woke crowd. I just watched the end credits and found myself laughing all over again and that scene is pretty funny.
