Default Best Buy Exclusive or TRilogy set??

So, I own Batman Begins and TDK. For sure buying TDKR day one but I'm torn with which one to get. Does the Best Buy exclusive contain all the other supplemental material from other versions AND The Dark Knight Reborn?

Also I got the Batman Begins and Dark Knight Blu-rays for pretty cheap so I won't feel like I wasted money.
I ordered the trilogy. The only thing I might miss is the Joker's tagging art on the cover of "The Dark Knight". When I first saw it, I didn't really care for it, but I guess it grew on me. I don't believe the "tagging" is on the steelbook or any other version. But, I doubt I'd keep it just for the paper insert.

It looks like more people may be realizing that the trilogy is the better bang for the buck as it's now outselling the standalone Rises release on Amazon.

Haha, I know right? It's driving me crazy. I check every single freakin' day. I'm just nervous that it's going to be made avaliable when I'm at work or out with my girlfriend or my friends and its gonna be too late when i get home and I'm going to go online and see that it says "SOLD OUT, LIMITED SUPPLY ONLY"... errr...... need to get it now!

The bad news there is that doesn't bode well for a pre-release price reduction.

For the Canadians in this thread -- the Futureshop Steelbook is available for pre-order.

Here's what is says about the Digi Book

Quote:
Exclusive Blu-ray Digibook Combo Pack contains Blu-ray, DVD and Ultraviolet with original 25-page comic depicting the prologue from the film plus 7 pages of filmmaker concept art. Each copy includes exclusive lenticular lens cover designed to showcase images of Batman vs. Bane when held from different angles

Finally some confirmation. Guess all those reputable sites saying for a "fact" that there were two books were wrong huh TitusTroy?

I would love to get that target digibook but it would drive me crazy not having the other two in digibooks. why is this the only one in digibook? It'd feel so incomplete and naked to me if I just had The Dark Knight Rises digibook alone. I'll just stick with the steelbook to complete the steelbook trilogy and then wait for the Ultimate Collector's edition in 2013.

I'm going to hold out for the Ultimate Edition next Fall/Winter. Though collecting the steelbooks for all three is very tempting.

One of the big action scenes in the middle of TDK was pretty much just the Joker shooting some guns, a SWAT van gets pushed into the water, Batman rides a bike and shoots some cannons and a truck gets flipped, which we've seen in a million movies before. Nothing really breathtaking or anything that had me on the edge of my seat, although I still think it was well done with minimal amount of CG work. Not easy to pull off Im sure.
I too enjoy both forms of action. Avengers is one of my favorites of the year.

But for me personally what makes me prefer the Batman trilogy's action over say The Avengers, is everything that surrounds that action.

It's not as flashy and less is happening, but because of the story and the characters it's more involving and engaging. There is a sense of tension.

It's tremendous fun seeing the Marvel characters knock each other around but in the back of my mind I never feel any sense of threat for the characters.

Look at Casino Royale's poker scene, or the luncheon in The Town. Ordinary things become gripping to watch because of what is at stake. And thats what I love about Nolan's Batman movies. The drama is what drives the action, it's not action for the sake of action.

+1

The Avengers was awesome, but what put The Dark Knight Rises on a whole other level for me was the fact most of the action had meaning behind it. Something as simple as Batman returning after 8 years sent shivers down my spine, whereas The Avengers is more like "Hell Yeah!".

Both are excellent films. I will never understand the comparison between them as they really have no business being compared as they are completely different. The only thing that they have in common is that they were both adapted from comic books, does that mean every movie adapted from a novel should be compared?

For all of you who are thinking about buying that trilogy set in December, you may want to hold out. I just saw this on the Batman-on-Film website:

To help celebrate their 90th year, Warner Bros. will be releasing an "Ultimate Collector's Edition" of THE DARK KNIGHT TRILOGY in Quarter 3 of 2013. Rumor has it that it will include audio commentary from director Christopher Nolan...and A LOT of other cool stuff as well. If it were me, I'd buy RISES when it comes out on December 4th and hold off on buying the TRILOGY as a set next year.

The guy who runs that site seems to generally be in the know about these kinds of things, so I'd wait a year until you plunk down any money for a trilogy set. I'm definitely buying the Blu-ray for TDKR itself on December 4th, though.

As prices stand now, the trilogy is still a way better value - esp. if you think you're going to buy the "deluxe" version later:
- protected in case the "ultimate" is absurdly priced.
- probably sell or trade for more than just the single movies.
- back-up discs for all three movies/extras should something go wrong later.
- you get the small version of the book.
- it's only $5 more.

This. you can't argue with $5 more than TDKR alone. Having said that, we all know the TDKR will drop to $19.99 on release week. It's almost a given. So you're really spending $10 more unless they drop the trilogy down which probably won't happen for a while.

The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises are two completely different films. The Avengers was a big summer blockbuster that was made with children's action figure sales in mind. The Dark Knight Rises was a much more serious film that was chilling at times, and told a great story. It was much more character driven then action based. I loved both films though.

I have the Trilogy set of Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises on preorder from Amazon. It is a five disc Blu-ray set that comes with a book as well. It was only $30! That is a NICE PRICE for everything you get!
