Yep you can often use it to your advantage too. In Mergos loft you can bait boars into killing enemies for a lot of echoes.

Is it possible to do the wrong things with NPCs to make it so you can't get 3 pieces of umbilical cord?

I beat Mergo's Wet Nurse, then checked a guide for how to get 2 more. But I guess I already killed the woman in the clinic and I never sent the other woman to the chapel so I can't find her giving birth.

1) Wet Nurse
2) the woman in the clinic
3) the old workshop (the abandoned hunter's dream)

I certainly killed Iosefka too early so I'm dependent on the prostitute. She has to survive thigh, so I guess no more blood from her. And reading the guide, I'm not so sure I want that ending anyway.

I would like to try the scenario where you take the nun's blood & get the prostitue jealous or vice versa. I think I tried last game but I got the message saying I've already taken the blood.

Rom is one of the more interesting bosses by area but yeah I hate him as much as the creator of the game loves him.

Aye, they made it so that out of 4 possible cords, 2 are missable, and it sounds that you might have

Funny story:

I summoned help for Margos wet nurse cuz I didn't feel like trying on my own after dying once (yes my patience is that shot) and the funny thing is that my partner immediately got killed before taking away any health.

So I ended up killing her.

It still infuriates me that I can't seem to get the dodge mechanic down very well.

Also, I said its impossible to be overleveled in this game. After the Amygdala fight being so ridiculously easy, maybe you can get overleveled.

1, 2, 3, 4 , 5, Ailing Loran and Great Isz (not in that order)
plus make sure you get the living string and 2 red jellys from the main game

not chalice related but you also need 3 umbilical cord to get
one of the endings, I recomment reading a guide before heading to the final boss, unless you want to play the game 3 times

If you play NG+ you can skip Great Isz since you can get 2 red jellies from each playthrough in the lecture hall.

yes, but I didn't know that in my first playthrough, even though I thought I opened every chest, somehow I missed that one

but luckily great isz is the easiest chalice, and you don't even have to go through it all

I am probably going to stop playing the game after I beat the final two bosses and not go for the platinum.

I just do not believe I have the health, sanity or will to try and go through those chalice dungeons.

Of course, I am assuming that I can beat the final bosses. Being overleveled by no means makes the game easy it does however, give you some margin of error in the boss fights, but that margin of error is supposedly zero in the dungeons. Given my pathetic ability to dodge attacks, it's probably better to not try.

Oh well, had a blast in the game.

Ailing Loran Chalice (Just need to collect Bastard of Loran material)
Defiled Chalice (3-layers Heart)
Pthumeru Ihyll Chalice (3-layers, Third boss is Queen)

You may also have to do this one like I had to,
