My steelbook closed just fine the day I got it, but today, it's gotten torqued or something, as when I close the bottom, the top pops open and when I close the top, the bottom pops open. No amount of torquing seems to make it any better. It doesn't look out of alignment, but one of the clasps just won't stay closed now... WTF.

That is exactly what mine does since the first time I unwrapped it.

My order shows as "completed." I just hope that they package it well and it doesn't arrived dented or anything.

Well...Best Buy went and pissed me off. I'm wondering if this situation happened to anyone else. Here it goes:

So....like some of you noticed yesterday, the movie showed up online for a brief time to allow for an order to be placed. It was unavailable for shipping, but WAS available for in-store pickup. Only thing that sucked for me was that absolutely 0 were available close to me. I happened to check back in my hometown and saw that there was availability at a store about 20 min from where i used to live. I checked with a family member and once he said he'd be able to pick it up for me in about 2 days, I placed an order.

I received the "Your order is ready and waiting" email and forwarded it to him.

Well today....while i was at work...I received an email from BB saying "per your request, we've cancelled your order". Why the ^*^& would I cancel my order after taking so long to try and secure a copy? Plus it was impossible as I had no access to my phone to do so while i was working.

I'm currently waiting on the phone for the store I chose for pickup to see if they actually do have it. If not, I'll be making another nice little phone call to the other phone number i was given in my cancellation notice.

This seriously is ridiculous.

I was able to sneak in an order. A few hours later I received the email that it was back-ordered. However, I just checked the status: "Preparing your item for shipping"
This is the copy I picked up on Tuesday:

Yesterday my order went almost instantly to preparing and then this afternoon I got the shipped email.
Good luck to you getting that one replaced.

Just got off the phone in regards to my last post.

They claim they never got any in (even thought the site had that store as an option to pick up from) and that once that was realized, they cancelled it since they only had the regular version.

I really don't understand how they could royally screw this up so bad, aside from the whole pre-order thing too. I don't think I've ever had this much of a problem trying to get an item from that store.

I preordered the MM:FR steelbook in-store back in August 12th but forgot that the steelbook came out this week. Did not know about the shortage with the steelbooks until I arrived at the store yesterday and was told they only received 5 steelbooks on Tuesday and were all claimed for people who preordered (none were sold on the floor). However, the BB employee told me that they will be getting 3 more copies in today. Just came back from my BB store with a copy

It wasn't the store, it was the site. I tried to place an order last night at the same time and couldn't get through checkout without getting a "SOLD OUT" error. So I finally called both local stores that the site said had it in stock. The first said they didn't have any. The second said they never got the initial shipment. The site was never correct to begin with. I suspect an isolated online order for in-store pickup may have had luck but I think the only ones that worked were the early ones yesterday that people were able to choose to have shipped (though no one has received theirs yet, for all we know it may be the standard edition).

The site did allow me to look at different stores, some of which specifically said unavailable, and others saying available for pickup.

So I chose the one closest to back home. I just find it weird that I received the "your order is ready and waiting" email and it was never there.

I also had signed up for the text notifications when i ordered. Received the "ready for pickup" text and also the "your order has been cancelled" text. Upon looking at the cancellation text, it said "Questions? Call 1-888....So i called that 888 number, walked through the process of checking my order status with my order number and the response was "your order has shipped".

So i honestly don't know what the hell is going on. I emailed them about it, detailing everything. I guess I'll just wait and see what their response is. Not holding my breath over it, though.

I got my movie 2 days ago and it was the last steelbook in the store. I pre-ordered this movie 2 weeks ago by using their pre-order card. I had no problem getting my steelbook and plus they give me $10 gift card.

My steelbook is partially defective in the sense that it won't close in a way that feels secure.

It'll close, but just the slightest touch will open it again.

But I don't imagine that exchanging it for another one is a viable option.

...especially seeing as how I already tossed the receipt.

I've been scrolling and reading the horror stories since page 81 of this thread, and I can't tell you how sorry I am that so many of you were screwed out of such an awesome item. Somehow, I was able to snag my MM:FR Steel via pre-order for store pickup, at a Best Buy in N. Irving, TX (a store that I have a rather checkered history) with no problem whatsoever. The thing was literally sitting in those dangerous wire baskets (for Steelbooks, anyway), and it was the only damn one left in the store. I decided to take a look around and see if maybe they had any hidden away in the racks, but they didn't, and also ended up snagging SPRING BREAKERS for $4.99 (a nice little double-feature of MADness) and left.

Fortunately, there were no major damages to the front or back cover, and no spine slash either...although the very top part of the spine tended to stick out just a tad more than the bottom part, which looked perfectly normal. Of course, the real bummer was the one corner that doesn't close, but based on what I've read here, it seems to be a normal and somewhat non-painful occurrence with this otherwise flawless release.

Best Buy needs to get their shit together regarding they're pre-orders. I can only imagine how pissed I would've been if put in some of these unfortunate horror situations. For anyone here in the DFW area, I'll be scoping out other BB locations in and around the area to see if they have any, and if they do, I'll be sure to post here first.

Much luck to everyone!
I've never had issues with this store before. That's where I went for this release and had no issues as well as no prior issues. The one in Oak Cliff has never done me wrong as well.

Well, after driving 2 hours, I got my steel book. As the associate brought it over, I glared at the packaging to make sue it wasn't the regular edition. Absolutely shocked that I was able to get one after Best Buys FUBAR
