watched the first 15 minutes, the 4k master appears to be dull(colors)
very weird knowing craven movies shows high propensity for pop colors lovely red ![]() in brief i think i prefer the old blu ray, full of edge enhancement, colors appears to be more in my taste waiting for caps now, to see if i'm blind ![]() Last edited by paradise1984; 10-17-2021 at 03:28 PM. |

perception is also linked to the mechanisms of cognition

i've just watched again the first drew barrymore sequence, difference between hdr10 and dolby vision is night and day,
hdr10 is the way to see the movie as it was intented ![]() thank you again for your advise by the way ,if dolby choosed dull colors to be more cinematic look alike,i remember pretty well, that scream had mesmerizing colors in theater so they're really made a mistake this time Last edited by paradise1984; 10-17-2021 at 04:56 PM. |

Other factors come into play like if the TV is calibrated or not or are there certain settings that are "On" or "Off" that shouldn't be on or should be switched "On". So before saying the Dolby Vision version of the film is crap, look at your TV or player and see if it's better at processing HDR10 or Dolby Vision. |

Cool so I'm not the only one who thought the Dolby Vision was not that 'great' for once. For those who like seeing the movie with a very cinematic filter, you'll love it though ! But yeah I was surprised how different they both looked.

"The differences between Dolby Vision and HDR10 come down to the TV and the way it processes images as well as the player itself. Some TVs do a better job with HDR10 than Dolby Vision. Other TVs can't process HDR10 very well. This is where Dolby Vision is beneficial to those TVs.
Other factors come into play like if the TV is calibrated or not or are there certain settings that are "On" or "Off" that shouldn't be on or should be switched "On". So before saying the Dolby Vision version of the film is crap, look at your TV or player and see if it's better at processing HDR10 or Dolby Vision." i understand your point but pana ub9000 and sony a 90j oled here, hoping for me that one of the most expensive player and tv on the market have a great dolby vision ![]() Last edited by paradise1984; 10-17-2021 at 05:08 PM. |

You also have to consider that your A90J has a built in Dynamic Tone Mapping function and depending on that setting you have it on, the HDR on the HDR10 version of a movie may pop out more than it should be. Again, there are lots of things to consider before saying the film's Dolby Vision version sucks. |
