I bought a slim, then sent my dead ps3 in later, so I still have the original, as I've always had the original of every console I've ever bought. |

Okay, so not only you bought a Slim, but you also sent in your 80GB into Sony for them to fix so you get the original back?

Is the ylod problem caused by overheating on the cpu and gpu? Correct rite...
The rsod is caused by motherboard issues? Well, I got the rsod and I couldnt find the original receipt where I bought it from, but got it at Costco and returned it and bought a PS3 Slim at Costco. So if the ylod or rsod happens again I just need to return it back to Costco and get a need one. Now I just need to backup all my save game files. |

Hello,
I'm having a problem with inserting/ejecting discs into my PS3. I've read (including the suggestions on the first page of this thread) and seen the various alignment fixs but none of those seem to work. I doubt it's the laser because the blue light recognizes a disc is trying to be inserted but it doesn't engage the motor to pull the disc in. So could it be the motor or is something else preventing it from engaging? |

Mostly during madden at the start of game right when I kickoff. But the noise is still going and controller keeps vibrating. i need to do some more testing but I just got ps3 back for 2nd time today and it is still doing it. Its also shows pixels during blurays. Any advice? Could it be the HDMI cable? I assume Sony tests these before sending them back.

But the way you describe your problem it sounds most likely the culprit of your problem is a bad blu-ray drive lens. |

I just had this problem with a new slim I got on Black Friday. Started freezing every once in a while playing Heavenly sword. Then I started seeing polygons and stuff playing God of War. Then Blu ray movies would have long 5 second pauses here and there. Eventually Heavenly sword would not reload after the title sequence and GOd of War would play but the screen would be half smeared and you wouldn't be able to see anything. From start to finish this took about 2 weeks of playing maybe 2 hours a day or every other day. Doesn't take long. I took mine back to Costco for a new one. Great customer service. Otherwise you have to deal with Sony and the warranty.
Good luck |

If you had two different units having the same issue, it's either the game itself (doubt it) or Sony's slacking off! ![]() |

Alright i upgraded my PS3 hard drive 2 years ago to 250 gigs and last month it got corrupted after i bumped into my ps3(trying to fix the connection of my speakers from the back of the TV) while it was saving a game .......
then i formatted the whole thing lost about 170 gigs of data including games, game saves, videos, music etc then during the course of the month i re-installed all my PSN games and and the discs back on the PS3 and started to play my games from the start.......... today somehow my hard drive became slow all of a sudden (after i installed a FIFA 10 patch which i later deleted) and it took like 5 minutes just to load a game from the disc then i backed up all my files on a portable just in case......... now the main PROBLEM is when i play a PSN game it works smooth off the HDD, when i play a blu-ray movie it works perfect, when i play music videos saved on the PS# they work fine HOWEVER when i play a game on the disc(tried 4 of them now) they lag pretty hard out even to get to the menu screen it takes about 2 minutes and once the game starts about 5 minutes in and after than it lags just off the disc and the whole PS3 slows down once this happens and turns off after a minute or 2 I've got no idea what the problem is anyone have any ideas where this might be coming from????? This is weird, in the last week my wi-fi has been REALLY slow for PS3, but it works fine for other devices.
I tested the connection and the PS3 gets around 1.5 Mbps for both upload and download speeds with wi-fi (my computer is nowhere near that slow when connected by wi-fi). When I connected an ethernet cable to the PS3 I was getting 19 Mbps for download, and 13 Mbps for upload...that is a HUGE difference and I'm having trouble trying to find out why all of the sudden my PS3's wi-fi has turned to crap. Hopefully someone can help me resolve this issue. |

It's wi-fi. Expect any number of atmospheric conditions to adversely affect your wireless connection. The ozone in your house, the humidity in the room, whether or not you flushed the toilet or if you have wallpaper instead of painted walls, the cat is sleeping near the router, cloudy outside, etc...
And hooking up anything to ethernet will be monumentally faster than any wi-fi as it's just the nature of the technology. btw, you speed checked your PS3, what does your computer normally pull with a speed check? Also, your computer is likely in a different spot than your PS3, have you tried moving your PS3 near your computer if that's possible? |
