Yes, I have used Amazon.fr before without any issues. Google translate might just be experiencing technical problems; I would keep trying. Sometimes when Google translate fails, simply clicking on "try again" will solve the problem; these translation failures often happen as you move from one web page to the next and clicking on "try again" will usually rectify the problem.

I just visited Amazon.fr and the Open Range product page and Google translate worked fine for me just now.

I took a screenshot of the translated page for you:

The 14.99 euros price on the lower right corner is the price if you want to buy it from Amazon.fr and not the third party seller shown above it for 9.99 euros.

Yes I like Open Range too, still have the DVD I was waiting for D2D to put it into my Movie Library in Vudu but it hasn't come up. You can rent it for $4 in HDX, and check it out because the Trailer is in SD.

The trailer shown on Vudu is in SD and it does look bad.

However, he clearly wants to own the movie in high definition and he has already seen the movie, so there is no reason to rent it. Importing the blu-ray from Amazon.fr is the best choice and it only costs about $21 to do so, standard shipping included. I'll probably order it myself.

Renting it on Vudu for $4 to test the quality beforehand and then buying it in HDX for $18 would bring the total cost to $22. The imported blu-ray will look and sound better and he'll actually own something when buying the disc.

I have checked from time to time since 2011 for a DVD2D and still no go. Checked the trailer at Vudu, Google Play and I think Amazon. They all looked like a bad VHS copy.

Order placed with Amazon FR. Thanks for the help. Installed Chrome on this PC and that made the translate process easier.

Just an afterthought, but Vudu, and other such digital providers, should allow their customers to apply their rental fee as a credit towards the cost of a digital purchase if they make that purchase within a short time of having rented something.

I've had that French BD import for years. It is excellent!

These interminable delays and sudden cancellations of Netflix series are things that infuriate me about them. When I do find a show that I like on Netflix, the odds are that there will be huge delays between seasons or that they will abruptly kill the show. Either way, they leave fans hanging far too often.
I agree the cancelations and long wait between seasons is frustrating. I hope we get season 3 of Mindhunter eventually.

True Lies and The Abyss (theatrical cut) have been available on HBO now for a week or so. True Lies is in full 2.35:1 anamorphic. These are the best they've ever looked.

These have been available on VUDU through "In Mobile Disc-To-Digital" for awhile too.

I just did a search on Vudu for True Lies and found no matches whatsoever.

I also did a search for The Abyss and Vudu only offers the trailers for both cuts, but not the actual movie.

The website JustWatch.com indicates that these two movies are only streamable via HBO and DirecTV and nowhere else. No streaming service offers The Abyss extended cut.

https://www.justwatch.com/

If Vudu ever offered them, they don't appear to now. At least my DVDs, such as they are, haven't disappeared.

Also, if you have the HBO add-on, you can stream them via HULU's interface.

Quick correction, there is no such thing as anamorphic encode for HD or 4K. Anamorphic is only used for DVD.

I would not make that statement about True Lies. I have had that movie on D-VHS D-Theater since the early 2000's. It looks and sounds very good. It has a fairly high bit rate lossy DD 5.1 soundtrack. It may have a DTS one as well, will have to check sometime soon. IIRC, the LaserDisc version I had looked very good for NTSC.

I have a list of SD titles that I check about twice a year to see if there is a HD version available no matter the format. Never saw the Abyss anywhere and True Lies (which I have) only on D-Theater. Probably would bring $75 to $100 if I listed it on eBay.

If you haven't already, you should make a back-up of it (and any other rarities that you have) to a SSD, optical disc, or both. I have backed up all of my rare laserdiscs to DVD media and I have Song Of The South backed up several which ways.

Thanks for clarifying. I still have the non-anamorphic DVDs of both films. Just to see them not being squished makes me happy.
