I just visited Amazon.fr and the Open Range product page and Google translate worked fine for me just now. Last edited by Vilya; 01-21-2020 at 07:08 PM. |

I took a screenshot of the translated page for you:
[Show spoiler] The 14.99 euros price on the lower right corner is the price if you want to buy it from Amazon.fr and not the third party seller shown above it for 9.99 euros. Last edited by Vilya; 01-21-2020 at 05:25 PM. |

However, he clearly wants to own the movie in high definition and he has already seen the movie, so there is no reason to rent it. Importing the blu-ray from Amazon.fr is the best choice and it only costs about $21 to do so, standard shipping included. I'll probably order it myself. Renting it on Vudu for $4 to test the quality beforehand and then buying it in HDX for $18 would bring the total cost to $22. The imported blu-ray will look and sound better and he'll actually own something when buying the disc. Last edited by Vilya; 01-21-2020 at 07:14 PM. |

I have checked from time to time since 2011 for a DVD2D and still no go. Checked the trailer at Vudu, Google Play and I think Amazon. They all looked like a bad VHS copy.

Just an afterthought, but Vudu, and other such digital providers, should allow their customers to apply their rental fee as a credit towards the cost of a digital purchase if they make that purchase within a short time of having rented something.

I also did a search for The Abyss and Vudu only offers the trailers for both cuts, but not the actual movie. The website JustWatch.com indicates that these two movies are only streamable via HBO and DirecTV and nowhere else. No streaming service offers The Abyss extended cut. https://www.justwatch.com/ If Vudu ever offered them, they don't appear to now. At least my DVDs, such as they are, haven't disappeared. ![]() Last edited by Vilya; 01-23-2020 at 03:40 AM. |

Quick correction, there is no such thing as anamorphic encode for HD or 4K. Anamorphic is only used for DVD.

I have a list of SD titles that I check about twice a year to see if there is a HD version available no matter the format. Never saw the Abyss anywhere and True Lies (which I have) only on D-Theater. Probably would bring $75 to $100 if I listed it on eBay.
