Just received an email that my order was shipped. I didn't place an excessive order, no multiple copies of the same film. Maybe they are cancelling some and honoring others, otherwise they could risk their account being shut (Amazon doesn't allow its third party sellers to cancel too many orders, it affects their standing. At least, it was that way when I used their platform many years ago).

I want Criterion to release this film:

The Hill (1965)

Or any label for that matter. How is there no blu-ray for this classic Lumet film!?

I think a few Bergman titles with standalone releases had new transfers for the boxset.

The Criterion announcement page for The Hit says "New cover by Jason Hardy". I don't see how it's different from the original DVD release, unless new Blu artwork is TBA?

I've only seen it once so I'll revisit the DVD to see if I want to upgrade. I was going through a Terence Stamp phase at the time.

Like others, I'm disappointed there's no horror title(s) for the month. Seems to have been an annual thing before. I'll just buy a few older releases from my wishlist instead.

And I've seen 4 or 5 Godard films but never Pierrot Le Fou (I can't even pronounce it!), might have to check it out now.

Once again, a big thank you to hainesdogg.
Amazon cancelled my order on this one. No explanation.

[Show spoiler]
I also own the OOP release and also prefer the old cover, but I'm actually really happy that it's back in print. I hate having to be so careful with my OOP discs. I like the idea of my discs being easily replaceable should anything happen to them.

I don't think that's correct at all. From what I read in an interview, the B&W version of Parasite was very much an afterthought (basically, "let's see what we can do if we try to make a B&W version") and he also said that he only watched the B&W version once in its entirety before calling it good.

It should still make for an interesting watch, but it was not the original intent of the movie.

I didn’t say it was the intent. It said that critics have stated that it felt like that was the intent.

Warner Bros. put it out on DVD back in 2015 for Warner Archive, so they would be the likely label to put it on Blu-ray.

I've never seen it, but it's hard to go wrong with James Earl Jones and Diahann Carroll. I hope it's added to The Criterion Channel too.
Along the same lines, I would like a Criterion release of Pete 'n' Tillie.
Carol Burnett and Walther Matthau in an excellent, witty script by Julius Epstein directed by Martin Ritt. Geraldine Page in an Oscar nominated supporting role is icing on the cake.

Fantastic movie. Why has it been an uphill battle to get this on blu-ray?

Yep, they did the same to me, and I only got two titles. So much for “Outlet Promotions.”

Jacques Tati's Playtime. (and Wong Kar-wai's Chungking Express, In the Mood for Love and some Federico Fellini films in the future with the upcoming box sets, probably)

Been doing some collection maintenance/upgrading/selling, and I would really love for those early David Lean spines to get the upgrade finally---SUMMERTIME, GREAT EXPECTATIONS, and OLIVER TWIST, all of which would look so lovely in HD. Figured the Dickens films would've gotten the boost a long time ago. Some of the only still in print early spines to not get the bump.

My package came in from UPS today and at least 2/4 of them had slight to moderate damage on the case, artwork, and booklets. The plastic case on the front of Portrait of Lady on Fire is now feels thin and pokey. Some pretty disappointing stuff considering when you buy new copies, you expect them to be at least somewhat better than used copies. Some used copies I've gotten from eBay have came in better condition than what B&N has given. At least none of the cases have any cracks and opens fine.

Got my B&N sale titles today - The Great Escape and The War of the Worlds - and both were in great shape. They came in that cardboard envelope with the sticky interior. May watch TWOTW a little later.
