In lighter news. We are getting a divorce. So I need to start looking for a place. Hopefully I can find something affordable around here. Since this is where I work. Anyway, going to get cleaned up and check out a couple of places before I head into work.
Damn. So sorry to hear about this. I will dedicate my first, second, third... aw heck, all my drinks tonight for you.

The look on your childrens eyes on Christmas morning is truly breathtaking. It makes all the hard work worth it.

Thanks gang, I appreciate the support. Her and I definitely know it is for the best. The only sad part will be needing to sell off my 20+ years of collecting and splitting the proceeds between us. She’ll have sole custody of The Boy and I really hope she doesn’t go after me for child support. Because I’m not fighting it and think he’ll be a lot happier with her. Anyway, I’ll have to start pulling shit down from the attic and decide what I’m keeping and what’s being sold. Have no idea the best way to sell them off, eBay or try to sell them privately.

Don,

Any chance you guys can at least make it through the holidays and then make the split in January? Seems like a difficult time to go through something like this. Just a thought.

I forgot what I had typed earlier and now I’m reminded I forgot about Panda Express. Didn’t end up being that hungry so just went for a 10-piece mozzarella sticks

You mean because of our son? He’s taking the news surprisingly well and thinks we’ll both be happy with other people. Neither of us are there. Anyway, I was originally thinking we’d try to “make it through December”, but no, I’d like to leave while we’re still being civil.

I’m going to start going through some boxes and getting my stuff set to the side. Then I’ll go up and see what collectibles to put up for sale or auction. It has been awhile. So I’m not sure if I should call around, out them up on eBay or Facebook Marketplace?

Deleted my Faceplantbook account. I've got 30 days to decide whether or not to make the deletion permanent. I don't need 30 days, yo - do it now. I'm sick of the random friend suggestions, photos of people's dinners and bathroom mirror selfies and other nonsense. And the thought of that dweeb Zuckerman getting filthy rich on this crap is boiling my brain

All opinions are welcome here but, keep in mind, some of us love God, enjoy the vacation he gives us every year for his son's birthday (and yes that is how I actually perceive Christmas vacation), and we do our shopping months in advance so everyone else can go crazy while we're home relaxing at Christmas, with all the candles and holiday quiet.

Thanksgiving is very nearly as great, not quite, because everyone goes nuts online and the dinner is over quickly. Granted, it takes too much effort and I like fitting into my skinny pants too much to eat, but it is over quickly, because of that crazy shopping. I get my house back and pop in Lifeforce or Terminator or a Die Hard movie. Life is good on Thanksgiving. Actually, it is very good. I'm looking forward to it.

I am sorry about this. As to your issue, keep in mind that you can value/appraise some of the collection, to keep, and as part of your settlement, you take out a loan and pay her on her half of the value. Keep in mind also that all of her clothing and jewelry is meant to be valued in the same manner. Everything counts, even shoes, so it should all be calculated, as to estimated value, and an independent appraiser is very useful when arguing over such things, according to a divorced friend. You should discuss with the attorney/attorneys about your state, as to declared value being resale or current value, not original purchase price. Most discs have a sale value of a few dollars, while clothing value tends not to depreciate, if it is quality, and jewelry maintains value well, from a legal standpoint. Technically, digital accounts can be maintained jointly with no disruption of service. Many collectibles actually have surprisingly little current value and ebay sales of the same item is regarded as a good way to judge that value. Again, this all really sucks for you and I hope it works out for the best for all three of you.

Yeah, but mostly just the hustle and bustle of business around the holidays. Good luck.

Yep, of course and that's a part of my point...most if not all of the craziness during this time of year is missing the entire reason for the holiday.

Appreciate the feedback. We’re trying to keep lawyers out of this. The house is her’s and I’m keeping my car. Although I kind of feel I’m getting the short end of the stick and should be able to keep my collectibles because I’m not fighting her on the house. We don’t have too much combined debit and apparently the state determines child support. She offered to let me leave scott free if I left the collectibles, but again, short end of the stick. More to follow at a later time. Dinner time.

So she gets everything... I wouldn't do it as you'll have a hard time holding up a "verbal" agreement if she chooses to change her mind, down the road, after she has the collectibles. If the house is in both of your names then you should require her to refinance in her name only otherwise you're still financially liable for the house too. You really should get a lawyer to protect your own and your kid's interest.

Well, that was like option C and I didn’t take it rdodolak. Honestly, it is an amicable split and there’s nothing that we have worth involving lawyers with at the moment. The house is her’s and I’m giving her sole custody of our son.

I’ve already made it clear that I’m keeping certain ones, lithographs and maquettes/statues. So the rest of collectibles are being sold to help us both out financially. Hopefully it will give both of us a clean slate and me bill free until I get enough work history under my belt to get my own home down the line.

Hope the second place I’m looking at is better than the first one was. It didn’t help that it was owned by one of my loaders from works father in law. Then I saw another advertisement for an affordable place on Zillow that doesn’t have a stove or oven. Who the hell doesn’t have that in their apartment? Anyway, looking at a house and hope it bodes better or leads to a better place.

Wish on a rainbow is all I can do.
Dream of the good times that we never knew.
No late nights alone in your arms.
I'll dream on. Living in wonder, thinking of you.
Still looking for ways to uncover the truth.
You're so young is all they can say.
They don't know,
If I could change the way of the world I'd be your girl.
Too many walls have been built in between us.
Too many dreams have been shattered around us.
If I seem to give up they'd still never win.
Deep in my heart I know the strength is within.
Watching the others chances drift by.
They'll never discover these feelings I hide.
Deep inside I'm falling apart.
All alone with a broken heart.
Thinking in silence is all they allow.
These words still unspoken may never be found.
All these…
