That's a matter of taste, isn't it? I associate them with fondly remembered VHS cases from the 80s, and they lend an air of legitimacy to a cover.

I would guess majority of people hate them, at least on the front covers and spines. VHS is much more nostalgic so I can understand it in those cases. God, have you seen how ugly the Australian ratings are? They're huge and I hate so much that they couldn't just go with stickers so I didn't feel the need to replace them all.
