The ONLY thing that would've made the PoTC films better to me is a hotter Elizabeth Sparrow, Keira is pretty but not gorgeous. Oh and edit the third film about a good 20-30 minutes, even I think it dragged a bit in parts but the comedy and action made up for it.

Actually yes, I felt that some scenes in "At World's End" could have been cut out. Like the love scene between Davey Jones and Calypso...it wasn't really necessary.

Elizabeth Sparrow, WTF?

I always check the sellers on Amazon.ca I know one in particular located in Toronto. I ordered quite a few from there, always get them fast and they do look good for being used.

If "hip" = LAME, then yes I am.

I like the fragmented, jarring, always moving camera work and cuts in the Bourne fights because it adds to the hecticness of am already hectic place and time, a FIGHT! But do we really need Hectic editing and camerawork during a converstaion, where people are even seated and sitting still?

Perhaps you are too young (inexperienced and naive) to realize that you are being (successfully) manipulated with cheap tricks.

Dont get mad at me buddy, you played the Age Card first.

Not sure but it's truly bad. One example, The Tudors (ok so I like this series ) are $40+ almost everywhere over per season. I just got both season 1 & 2 from the UK for $27 Canadian, that is just incredible

No. They are flawed, so giving a 5 would be an error. A 5 rating is for perfect, and they are not. They are excellent, but have some boo-boos.

you made some good points (some, don't get cocky ) and nothing i really disagree with. i will say, i can't imagine the film working or being as 'hypnotizing' if the dialogue was spoken at "normal" speed. the fast paced, frenetic dialogue and pacing of it worked beautifully for me

and i think, at least for Zuckerberg's character, the fast talking by him was to show how his mind was always racing and how he was always thinking about something and focusing on something ahead of time while also (kind of) being in the moment. he is a genius, so i think that's maybe how he does talk in real life, or at least did

Yeah, his speedy dialogue is understandable and effective. But I dont think his GF needed to be be a sharp tongued verbal assasin like him.

[Show spoiler]Synopsis:

This masterpiece by Jean-Pierre Melville about the French Resistance went unreleased in the United States for thirty-seven years, until its triumphant theatrical debut in 2006. Atmospheric and gripping, Army of Shadows is Melville’s most personal film, featuring Lino Ventura, Paul Meurisse, Jean-Pierre Cassel, and the incomparable Simone Signoret as intrepid underground fighters who must grapple with their conception of honor in their battle against Hitler’s regime.

Review:

Immediately places itself among my top 50 favorite films of all-time. I've never seen a film be so gripping and put you on the edge of your seat by saying so little and relying solely on mood and the potential of what's to come. There are at least 2-3 scenes in the film where you feel downright uncomfortable because of how tense it is, but I mean that in a completely positive way. What makes the film so great is its direction though. Sparse and relying on mood and atmosphere, Melville's direction is superb. It's hard to believe that a film about a secret band of resistance fighters could be so good despite NOT showing any actual resistance, but that's a testament to the writing, acting, and directing of this extraordinary film.
Nice review, I'm definitely looking forward to this one. I gotta get started on Criterions again so I'll be ready for the July B&N sale

It's all very entertaining, it's funny and dramatic most the time, and neither really feels out of place. Though I do feel it's a little bit too smart with it's commentary and overly patronising in symbolism (a shot a Hitler in the middle of fight)

Robert Duvall is pretty cool as well, I like how the last person who retired before him was killed 2 mins before hand

8.5/10

We're still talking about PQ, right? I know for the films themselves the highest I'd ever rate them would be 4.5/5.

Maybe 4.75/5 on the PQ would be accurate.

What are your scores for 'em?

Well, when you put it that way, I'm starting to think that the conversation is a fight in itself, and the hectic editing would compliment the tense nature of the dialogue and create a sense of anxiety. Just a thought.

Takers - This film was better than I thought it was gonna be. I was on the fence to blind buy it but couldnt pull the trigger so I rented it. I now wish I wouldve just bought it as it was a very good film and very entertaining. The
[Show spoiler]chase with Chris Brown
was excellently done and well crafted. Good story especially for high octane action/drama film. The acting was pretty good across the board with maybe T.I. putting on a bit more than he should have but other than that it was fine. This film has a lot of replay value and I plan to add it to the collection soon.

Film Rating - 4 stars (out of 5)

Easy A - Cute lil high school film is exactly how to describe this film. Wasnt a really funny film but had a few moments but nuthin I would care to watch again. We just havnt had the great high school comedy since the American Pie days. The blonde curly haired chick in the film was a sight to see and was stacked. Also Amanda Bynes didnt look good at all to me. This is a cute rental but thats about it.

Film Rating - 3 stars (out of 5)

The Last House on the Left (1972) - Wow I was really hopin to like this film but boy has it aged terribly. This bluray looked like a VHS tape. I know its an old film but that isnt an excuse as we have seen even older films with great transfers. It has to be very bad source material as in certain parts of the film u could see things on the camera like marks etc....Just plain bad. As for the film it just isnt very good and the remake is 100 times better. This is why I am all for remakes as certain films desperately need to be remade and this is a classic case of that. I recommend a pass on this film.

Film Rating - 2 stars (out of 5)

Shrek the Third - I heard so much negativity about this film so I didnt know what to expect as the first two films were very good. While this film may not have been as good as the previous two I still thought it was a solid film. I didnt see what was so bad about it. It had the regular elements and again love all the fairytale characters that the film uses, just a neat concept. It may not have been as funny as the previous two films but I still enjoyed and think it has been overly criticized.

Film Rating - 4 stars (out of 5)

Shrek Forever After - This was a very nice way to end the series. I love the Rumpelstilskin character and thought he sorta made the film although of course Eddie did his thang as usual. Great story and it was a great ride to end the series. What is so great about the Shrek series in general is it felt like on great long story/film. Like it was one book with different chapters that couldve easily been one film. A definite recommendation for the entire series.

Film Rating - 4 1/2 stars (out of 5)

Got Em!!
