The business metting one has more to it than just the lower assistant ordering finer foods whilst the others order the same as the boss did. It gives the Chef something else to do rather than make bland dishes & show off his skills & he can appreciate the assistant for his taste & fine dining Tampopo is a film all about food, a celebration & not just in the main storyline. I just won't look at eggs the same way again! Last edited by joy-division; 08-28-2020 at 07:01 PM. |

Lord knows they need more! There are what, 3 animated titles at the moment? Fantastic Mr Fox, watership Down & Fantastic Planet. Isle of Dogs will get released of course at some point I am surprised that The Adventures of Prince Achmed has not been made. I have the BFI title & it is amongst my favourite animated films |

Not according to Criterion.com though it is OOS there.
B&N appears to have some copies online and few stores still have shelf stock. I can't remember seeing a copy on-shelf in a long time and it's one I typically noticed just b/c of the nature of the release. |

The Thief and The Cobbler and The King and The Mockingbird need to added on the list (the former Paramount, who has a deal with Criteiron, now owns via their 49% stake in Miramax). |

I might as well post here what I posted over in the UK Criterion thread as I'm sure many picked up the Godzilla Collection:
For those of you who have the Godzilla collection, Eureka have just announced that they are releasing Mothra. Amazon have it for a great price, far cheaper than anywhere else & it's selling like hotcakes. They are also releasing an Ishirō Honda Double Feature at the same time (you will save £10 buying both at amazon) https://eurekavideo.co.uk/ https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mothra-Mast...dvd,180&sr=1-7 |

When questioning whether a Criterion title is OOP, go to Criterion's website, search for the title. If the item page says (under "Purchase Options") "Currently Unavailable" (as does By Brakhage), that means it's just out of stock, and Criterion needs to have more copies pressed. If the title is OOP, it'll say "Out of Print"

I personally have favorite films, or 'greatest films', from pretty much every decade. Though I do tend to be a big believer in letting films sit for a while before declaring anything among the greatest ever.
As for films to go into the Collection, since "Sweet Sweetback" and "Daughters of the Dust" have very recent great editions (they'd be fine candidates, otherwise), I think that Spike Lee's "Malcolm X" is a terrific candidate; Carl Franklin's "One False Move" is a great choice; Charles Burnett's "Killer of Sheep" would be one of my top choices; and "Ganja and Hess" would be great, too. |
