Were they at least 50% off like I've seen around here?

Get anything?

Pretty disappointed.. I'm not going to lie..

They had one check-out lane open.

The poor manager of the store was up front running register. There was only one other associate that was in the store..
It's a pity you can't take advantage of the Beverly Hillbillies offer of 10 free movies on Vudu....

Unfortunately, the code for those movies is on the receipt at Walmart...

No, surprisingly they were not 50% off... I didn't see anything I wanted. I actually walked around it a few times too.. I was hoping to find the Rockford Files set there...or something like it.. It was sad. It seemed like they had more comic books and adult coloring books than anything else...

I did purchase 4 or 5 of those Air Wick Automatic dispenser spray things for work.. They were on sale for $1.99

What is the story there? I assumed that was just something really old where you got 10 movies for opening a VUDU account many moons ago.

The problem for Ollie's is that many of those DVDs have shown up in prior Dollar Tree waves. They aren't ever moving most of them unless they dramatically slash the prices.

I'm surprised they weren't half off. Did you notice the price of anything. For example, what was the cost of that Decade You Were Born In: The 80's DVD? There are over 20 copies at my local store and they are marked down to $0.49 but ring up as $0.24 with the half-off sale.

Most all the DVDs at my local store are basically $1.99 or $1 after the half off discount.

The Roy Rogers set in your photo is selling at the local Big Lots here for $5 (or rather, it's priced at that amount... not really selling at that amount). But it's $2.99 at Ollie's (so $1.50 after discount).

I stopped by my Ollie's on Friday, and there were no movies to be found; only audiobooks and about 50 Garth Brooks box sets. It did appear that they replenished the graphic novel shelves though. I grabbed:

The Batman book completes my "The War Years" collection, so I'm happy about that.

No, I actually didn't even see anything I wanted so I didn't look at any pricing. I also did not see any signs that seem to indicate the DVDs were 50% off..

My local Ollie's doesn't even have a movie section. I've gotten a lot of great books though. May check it out today.

It seems like they are phasing out the movie selections in the Ollie's stores. I was in one the other day that had them all for 50% off in the book section. It was a pretty pathetic looking Ollie's. This was also the same Ollie's that had crap thrown all around the store...

I was at my location early this morning (I dropped by the DT next door to pick up a title for a trade). They are slowly starting to move their stock out with the 50% off discount, but they still had quite a number of movies left (one large mobile shelf unit that was full front and back and another that was full on one side). Only DVDs now though. They did still have copies of lots of IFC and MPI stuff like Canyons, A Bag of Hammers, The Reluctant Fundamentalist, Almost Human, Knife Fight, Fightville, Save the Date, and Brothers O'Toole. Also a few random copies of things like Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts collection, the Sherlock Holmes collection (with Basil Rathbone), the Roy Rogers collection (that's been at many Big Lots recently), and maybe one or two copies left of The Gorehouse Greats collection from Mill Creek. And, also lots of copies of The Decade You Were Born in: 70's and The Decade You Were Born In: 80's.

I can't deal with Ollie's. It's like shopping an estate sale.

Well if youíre looking for physical media line a lot of people here, itís pretty worthless. But as a father, I find their book selection to be pretty good, picked up some more books for my girl for the holidays. They remind me of how big lots seemed to be nothing but closeouts years ago, not a bad thing. I donít get out to our location often since I moved from that area, but they do have some good deals on other things.

I was in my local store a couple of weeks back and while they still have lots of DVDs available, they've stopped the 50% off sale. I didn't look very closely to see if anything new was added, but I don't think there was. They had at least re-organized and grouped all the various titles together (it was fairly neat before, but they look to have done more with that). That said, someone had sprayed paint on the floor around the books and people were walking through it and tracking footprints all over the store...

Ollie's has by far the best book deals in certain niches.

Especially graphic novels and trades. That's mostly what I go there for these days. It's too bad their movie selection has dwindled to basically nothing.

I found out one is opening in the new year in a vacant Toys 'R Us building and will be much closer to me.
