I know this is an old post from Months ago, I just wanted to point something out.

Those episodes on TV are edited down to 18 minutes so that they can have 12 minutes of commercials during that half hour. So that would be a good enough reason to get the DVDs. Complete episodes with no commercials!

Picked up Mean Streets and Dirty Harry 4 Film Favorites after work.

Store I visited had lots of 3 and 4 pack WB collections, mostly Schwarzenegger and Eastwood.

Guess I will wait on confirmation or not before deciding to partake in the sale, was a fun little treasure hunt as long as I kept it to a few stores at a time. Never hit all the DG's in my areas as they are EVERYWHERE. First year was fun as there were a ton on the drive from work to my house, now that I live 2 miles from work any potential hunting will be more out of the way.

i think after 200 titles bought, i am in the same boat, whether they still get that glitch or not.

So Dollar General stores appear to open quite early. 8 am even on Sundays if what Im reading is correct.

If theres a glitch it should be active right away right?

I get out of work at 7 am so i may just head straight to one and park til they open.

They fixed the glitch last year. Seems like some of you are hopeful that it will happen again and I think you are going to be disappointed. Plus stores don’t really have different stuff at $4.95 than they had in other years so if you already hoarded up the last two years then there’s not really much else to buy.

Again...we have no proof that the "glitch" was not intentional. For it to happen two years in a row, makes it likely it was intentional, regardless of it being "fixed" a couple days in. And that fix didn't really accommodate "buy one get one free" from what I remember. There is a HUGE glut of stock in these stores, especially for the $4.95 titles, many of which have a thick layer of dust from customer indifference. If I was in charge I'd mark all the $4.95 titles down to $2 (or cheaper), cause that is the only way most of these will ever have a chance of selling. Or they can sit on the inventory the same way they sat on overpriced/obsolete VHS inventory back in the day (around 2005, 2006) before it finally was disposed of.

If there is no "glitch," then this sale will actually be worse than the sale they just had a few weeks ago. Yawn. If there is a glitch, I do have several stores to the west that I haven't been to at all. So many stores around, that in the 2 sales I was only able to hit north, south, east, and part of the west. There might be 30 stores within an hour of me that I haven't been to. It's very time consuming to drive to all of the small towns, but the small towns always seem to have better inventory, whereas many of the bigger city stores don't carry movies at all.

That's why the glitch was most likely unintentional. If you want to use these movies as a loss leader and finally get rid of stock, then you would promote them at the low price you're selling them at. From a business standpoint, it makes no sense otherwise.

Actually, they never fixed the glitch. The sale just ended early last year. They had an entire year to FIX the glitch....and never did.

How do you figure that? If the glitch wasn't fixed all year, wouldn't it have worked in the sale DG had last month? It didn't.

Are you sure? I hit one store late morning of the 20th and purchased at glitch prices, then arrived at another shortly after noon and the titles were "only" ringing up at 50% off. Thought it was just that one store so I hit a few more and they were all only 50% off as well.

Perhaps the sale ended early, I stopped going to stores after that, but the glitch was definitely fixed beforehand...

I bought all of my glitch movies way after noon last year - some in the evening - so it was still working.

Yep it was definitely fixed. I bought some at 50% off and then ended up returning some realized I double bought them.
