Spain "Bootleg" Releases -Spain

Two moderators have called two releases *purchased from Amazon.es as "bootlegs"; Splendor in the Grass, Old Man and the Sea and Seven Days in May. among others ...since my posts about these releases seem to draw the label bootleg , I will not post any more spanish releases. What makes those who label the releases as B"ootleg experts. To prevent the dissemination of "Bootleg" releases" I challenge the moderators to list all of The Spanish releases they the experts know for dure to be Bootleg Releases. ...

All 3 titles that you mentioned have been confirmed to be bootlegs either in the customer reviews or threads on here.

I've recently purchased Deepstar Six, the Witches, Graveyard Shift, Alligator, and some others from AmazonES. Are these bootlegs? The quality is HD.

Alligator is a bad looking dvd upscale I believe. Also a BDR apparently. If that wasn't the case, I'd have bought it, I love that film.

Yep, bootleg and a BD-R.

Alot of the recent booties have been pressed discs but a few are still sneaking through on BD-R's.

Easy to spot if the back cover doesn't have the studio logo i.e. Warner Bros for Splendor in the Grass, as in their Spanish DVD version. Amazon.Spain often has graphics of the back covers.

Vast numbers of Spanish discs are bootlegs, mainly because traditionally there have been so many and no-one seems to care much.

I have two Bronsons from Spain, Death Hunt and 10 to Midnight. Both are on BD-R. Good transfers to be fair.
I also have the Van Damme movie Inferno (a.k.a. Desert Heat) which has the same upscaled DVD image from the German release, but is at least a pressed disc.

I'm just hanging on to them, until something better comes along. Might get the new German release of 10 to Midnight if they release a cheaper version.

From now on i always check first before i buy spanish Blu-rays. Mostly horror movies are Bootlegs.

Googlefu suggests that Vertice Cine is a bootleg label, so chances are....

In Spain if a title is not explicitly being released by one of the Hollywood majors. Warner, Sony etc. it’s very much buyer beware.

They most definitely are a legit distributor. Nearly all the distributors listed on the page you linked to are the ones to avoid, some shouldn't be on that list for example Filmax are legal they don't actually distribute the films they've licensed they usually set up deals with third parties like Warner Bros. a few years ago and now Divisa.

Most of the ones I've got from Spain were fine but now I am stuck at least with three that have forced subtitles and I find it very irritating.

On a different matter bad picture is not an automatic indication of a bootleg I have many US, UK and AU releases particularly DVD's that are absolutely legit and are substandard quality.
