Still waiting. Estimated delivery was 21-28 May so I'm not panicking yet. I will say, considering that the Spanish seller on Amazon UK was/is charging around six quid for delivery, those estimates are a bit of a piss take imo. Hopefully arrives soon. Last time I looked on ebay, there were copies also available there but at the time, those were around thirty quid hence choosing the Amazon UK option.

Got the bootleg Diabolique 1996 blu ray. It's ok, better than the Mill Creek release which would not be difficult. Interiors look good. Deeper colour saturation, but struggles with outdoor and night shots. Audio is decent and is in 5 channel. On my disc there are a few seconds of juddering movement at the scene where the video team are setting up the camera for the pictures outside the front of the school.
If like me and you are a fan youv'e probably bought the crappy Mill Creek release, imperfect as it is this bootleg version is better. |

My thoughts exactly, but I need to be sure or at least to know that is the PQ decent compared to Synapse disc if not exact the very same.

Young Sherlock Holmes is a pressed disc and PQ is good. Slightly soft perhaps but still more than decent. I'm sure it's identical to the hd version you can buy on Amazon (which I did purchase a couple of years back). I'm also sure that if Paramount were to release an official blu-ray, it would look exactly the same (Funeral In Berlin, The Two Jakes).
The 56 minute documentary extra is presented by Christopher Lee and I'm certain that I also have it on Arrow's Hound of the Baskervilles blu-ray. My wife and I are watching this Spanish disc tomorrow afternoon and later on that day, I'll leave a very short additional post just to confirm that it played okay. Shame Amazon Spain never got stock, meant I ended up paying substantially more to get hold of a copy. |

As long as it plays okay tomorrow afternoon, I'm sure it's a safe purchase. Another example of Paramount just using the Amazon hd stream for a blu-ray could have been Heaven Can Wait (which I previously bought streaming from Amazon and then an official German Paramount bd). With great interest, I also recently read a user review of the new Paramount Top Secret blu-ray, where they said that it was pretty much the same as the Australian bd (which I own). I just don't see Paramount putting out a fresh Young Sherlock Holmes hd transfer when a serviceable one is already available. That is, if they ever release it at all.

Watched all of the Young Sherlock Holmes bd today, played just fine, zero problems. Quite a fair share of the image is a bit soft. If I had to award a PQ score, I would probably choose 3.5/5. Would still recommend this disc to fans.

Surely at its worst it still murders the DVD at its best.

Except now that I have it in hand, I’ve discovered the fly in the ointment—it advertises English subtitles but appears to not feature them (from what I can tell, selecting them from the menu merely causes the Spanish subs to play exactly as if I’d selected Spanish subs proper). Shit. Still a keeper but that totally sucks.

Sometimes helps when words are unclear (especially when accents are heavy). Also convenient when the family is asleep. No biggie—I downloaded the right subs from subscene.com, which my Oppo can display. But it’s definitely a disc error.
