Let's try again since you're having some difficulty as always: the only currently available blu-ray release of the theatrical version is the Imprint one. That will most likely and hopefully change in the future, like it has for other releases that initially were only available through Imprint.

IIRC there's also a Blu-ray in Germany of the theatrical cut, though I dunno if it's still in print.

Regardless, Kino have said they couldn't acquire the rights, and Arrow are rumoured to have a deal with Paramount, so I'm optimistic that a UHD of the theatrical cut will arrive before I die.

Let's try again since you're having some difficulty as always: the master Imprint used has been around for a decade. The German release used it. It's been widely available on iTunes. It has nothing to do with Imprint and what's happened with "other" releases. Paramount JUST re-issued The Warriors in the US and failed to include the theatrical cut, so it's not being licensed out. Just because Imprint releases something doesn't mean it's "most likely" to come out everywhere else soon after, because one has nothing to do with the other.

Not hard to understand.

Paramount just released a steenbok in the US and only included the DC. So they aren't giving up the rights anytime soon.

Checked out the deleted scenes from the 1983 TV edit, and ... YouTube has uploads with better looking colours. Can't tell if the 4:3 deleted scenes have been stretched or cropped to look widescreen?

It's nice to finally own the original 1979 theatrical cut.

[Show spoiler]Cyrus, was a visionary, but didn't half talk the shite. Even if the combined gangs did overwhelm the cops, the National Guard would've sorted them out

Never read the book that the film is based on, but also can't tell how old the gang members are supposed to be - in their early-to-mid-twenties, or actors that age pretending to be teens?

Damn. It's too late to cancel mine. Including shipping, I paid far too much for this.

After waiting 2 months my copy of the Imprint standard edition BD finally arrived:

[Show spoiler]

I have The Warriors box set by Imprint but it's so bulky I'll probably just sell it online.

I recently found out a costume designer I work with on commercials and music videos was the costume designer on The Warriors, Bobbie Mannix. Such a funny coincidence.

it excluded the theatrical mono mix iirc, it had a stereo downmix in place

from what it seems the Imprint release, despite its likely poor encoding, is the only way outside of Paramount+ and Amazon Prime, to watch the theatrical cut in HD with the theatrical mono mix (I saw a few platforms with this title that had the theatrical cut but with the revisionist 5.1 audio), though it too could be a stereo downmix

Imprint's theatrical cut doesn't have the OG mono either, it's stereo. The encoding is perfectly fine though.

It seems there are two HD masters of the theatrical cut that they use

Paramount+ and Amazon Prime use HD master #1 which is likely the straight up unaltered master from the 2001 DVD as it has the unaltered spotlights and the original theatrical audio mix

Netflix and HBO Max (when they had the title) used HD master #2 which is on the surface the theatrical cut but is missing various small amounts of frames during the transitions, the police spotlights in the opening are brightened (what's clearly a hold over from the director's cut), and the same 5.1 remix (also a holdover from the director's cut) is used but has the additional wipe transition sound effects taken out

I bet that the German and Australian BD releases use HD master #2 based on how both exclude the mono mix

when it comes to the BD yes, the theatrical cut was excluded, but this was moreso a case of Paramount just re-issuing what was already out there

the package itself included both cuts but the DC was the same BD from 2007 and the TC was on DVD and was the same disk from 2001

so again, it was just a mostly pointless reissue with fancier packaging

German and Australian use different theatrical masters. German uses Netflix master with bright lights but has a plus of having more picture info all around. Australian uses Amazon master with unaltered lights but is zoomed in and possible EE making it look slightly sharper and grainy. Created my own custom using German with unaltered lights from Amazon.

See my previous post:

No they don't use different theatrical masters. They all use the exact same underlying master, albeit with small tweaks done by each label. See that little white speck on James Remar's nose in your screenshots that's present on both transfers? There isn't clearer proof that both labels used the exact same master provided to them by Paramount.

Like I said months ago, there is only ONE master for the theatrical cut. Paramount has not re-scanned the theatrical cut in well over a decade. Both Netflix and Amazon used this same source as well. Yes, the Imprint slightly crops that digital line running along the right side of the frame, so the framing between the two is ever so slightly different, but you're implying that the masters used on both are somehow different when in reality they both come from the exact same source. You're splitting hairs here. Also the German disc is pretty compressed at 18 GB vs Imprint's 30 GB (which also doesn't have the best encode either but it is what it is).

Also like I said months ago, they're both in 1.78:1 so the framing on both of them is technically incorrect anyway.

Hi guys. I currently have the German media book, is it worth upgrading to the imprint release?

Thanks

If you're into extras, yes; there's two commentaries (one for each cut) and well over an hour of new interviews and featurettes. If all you care about is the film itself, you'll just be getting a better encode (but still nothing spectacular) and the oft-derided DC version in addition to the theatrical cut.
