Simple question,
How can I find out how many hours I have on my bulb? Im going on more than 3 years with the original bulb and am thinking of getting another one before they stop making them (since SXRDs are discontinued). Thanks. |

best of luck. hope this helped a little. mine lasted almost 4 years before i had it replaced. i got it replace under the extended warrenty at BB and it was within 2 months of that warrenty so timing was great for me. here is a place recommended by some on this forum. http://www.ercservice.com/ while i don't plan on keeping my sony forever, i did purchase a spare lamp and keep it as a spare. i figure, i had my lamp replaced last year and if it last another 2 years before i need to use the spare, i could either move it to the basement, (putting a new more modern tv in the HT area) or replace the lamp and sell it for (well, someone is willing to buy it i'm sure for a couple of hundred cash, trust me, if you sold it today, you could get a couple of good hundred) it's also a good idea to have one because it will fail at the worse possible time and you won't be able to get your hands on one. best of luck, you didn't mention your tv model but, you can do that when searching for the lamp. mine use the XL5200 lamp. hope this helped. keep us posted. |

Solarrdadd, thanks for the 411.
I have the same TV as you, but the 50inch. Yes, spec'd out some prices on the XL5200. In Toronto, a brand new one (made by phillips) will run me 210 for the comlete assembly. According to the dude at the store, phillips makes the original one in the SXRD I have now. Can you confirm this? Any posts on how to swap the bulb assy's out, or is it pretty much plug and play? BTW, going on 1year plus on my second OB. |

210$ for an XL5200 is very expensive. I've bought 3 of these on Amazon.ca for less than 50$.
