USA SecondSpin.com Blu-ray Deals!

While they are a US Retailer they offer very good shipping rates to Canada. Currently it is $4.99 per order. All prices are $ USD.

They usually have a promo code active, which is usually displayed on the front page. Currently it is SAVE20SS which is good for 20% off of CDs, Games, DVDs & Blu-rays. 20% is ok, but they have 30% and I believe I've seen 40% before as well. Sometimes they offer free shipping as well.

Here is the search tool you can use to search through the blu-rays.

Currently they have over 400 blu-rays under $5, and that is before the discount. I've only had a couple of issues over the years, and each time they fixed it without issue. I ordered the original Children of the Corn, but they sent me a double feature of some later sequels. They were out of the movie so they credited my account and let me keep the disc.

The discs and cases are in good shape, the only issue I've found is that the older stickers they used to use don't come off very easily, and sometimes leaves residue. But the newer ones seem to come off without issue.

I try and keep my orders under $100 and haven't hit by Customs/Duty when doing so. I did get hit one time when it was around $150. I've always received my orders via CP.

I'll update this post as new codes are posted.

Current sale, through 10/31/13 is 20% off when you spend $40 or more

Use code SSTWENTYOCT

Thanks DD. From the movies you've ordered... do they send US releases or Bilingual ones?

And outside of the $4.99 shipping are there any additional charges? Do they charge taxes on top of the price? I assume not since we don't reside in the US.

They are US releases, I don't believe I've ever received a Canadian version. They buy as well, and done by UPC, so I don't believe they would buy Canadian/Bilingual versions.

No other fees are applied by them, so just the $4.99 Shipping (I think it's usually $6.99) and the conversion to US $. For me, the price I see on the website is roughly the price I see pre GST/HST in stories.

Just one more thing, I didn't say explicitly but am hoping it was inferred, these are used blu-rays. But like I said the ones I've received, for the most part, have been in very good condition. The only complaint I had was that the older stickers they use left some residue, but it comes off with Goo Gone. I believe they are the same company as F.Y.E., so they all have stickers with price on them.

I just realized I never said they were used, just wanted to clarify it.

Default The SecondSpin Experience

I've ordered from them a few times before... and from my experience:

a) there are no taxes added on

b) they usually ship by UPS or DHL, and so more often than not, they will charge brokerage and duty fees if your order is above the $60 import threshold, that's why I find it's wiser to split larger orders up and pay multiple shipping fees rather than get hit with the $10 brokerage fee + duty which is usually more

c) in terms of blu-rays, they have three to four promos that they rotate through from week to week;
i) 20% off orders $30 or more, sometimes with free shipping
ii) 30% off orders $40 or more
iii) $10 off orders $40 or more -- I haven't seen this promo for some time now
iv) buy 1 get 1 at 50% off (with no limit) -- Their system with automatically match items in your shopping cart to give you the best overall total. Essentially, if you buy pairs of items with the same price, you'll be getting 33% off each item. I believe this is the best deal they offer since I haven't seen a promo with a higher % off than this.
d) shipping time is between 2-3 weeks to Southern Ontario from the time you place your order

e) they have almost no customer support; no contact number, just an email address and a FaceBook page which they don't really reply to

Since they're a US-based company, 99% of their stock is non-bilingual.

Something I would warn about is the cases that the blu-ray discs come in vary in condition from pristine brand new and sealed to cracked, broken, torn to old BlockBuster DVD cases with the blue paper insert. Artwork is sometimes torn or creased, inclusion of slipcovers is also luck of the draw since the website does not indicate this for each item. They have one or two of their own product stickers with bar code system stuck onto each case or slipcover and is sometimes very difficult to peel off without leaving behind some residue. OCD's beware!

Keep in mind (as their name would suggest) SecondSpin.com is basically an online + B&M secondhand media store, so the items' packaging is only as good as what the patrons send/bring in to sell to them. So far, all the discs I've receive from them have been in flawless condition, so I'm guessing they do have some quality control (at least for the actual playing media anyway).

Overall, I've found them to be a great source for blu-rays. I would definitely recommend buying from them as long as you're able to accept what I've stated above. Happy hunting...

Hope this helps.

Agree with all... But in my experience, I've never received anything from them from UPS, maybe I've just been lucky, but I also keep my orders around $100 or less. My biggest order was around $160 (If my memory is correct) and got dinged $20+, but that was through CP. But I'd say the

I too have received some in DVD cases, and agree with you about the stickers, they do like to plaster them on. But after cleaning and/or swapping out cases I don't think you'd be able to tell which were bought new and which ones came from SecondSpin.

They've also been pretty good filling orders, I only had a couple of times where they sent me the wrong thing. So I luckily haven't had to deal with their CS very much. The last time they sent me the wrong movie, I emailed them and they credited my account within an hour or two, and I got to keep the wrong movie they sent.

Also they're promotions of Buy X Get X free you have to be careful as they will always take off the lowest priced items. I also assume that I'm not going to get a slipcover, although I've gotten the odd one in the past.

Like bulletproofviet said, it's a good source for cheap Blus.

Thanks for all the info guys. I never knew this website existed otherwise I would have ordered plenty from them. I do not buy bilingual releases so something like this is ideal for me.

decent store, especially if you're looking to order a bunch of movies that were pretty popular at one point. that said, while 20% off is nothing to complain about, they do 30% off sales pretty frequently.

Not yet. Alot of the titles I looked up they do not have. Either their search function does not work well or they dont have the best inventory. I searching for a few items on my wishlist like:

Sliver
Phonebooth
The Fly (1958)

Came up empty on all counts. Until I can string together a few titles i'm after from them I dont think its work placing an order for just 1 flick at a time.

Phone Booth

The Fly

Sliver

Keep an eye for Phone Booth, it's one I just received.. I paid about $4 for it after shipping & conversion.

They won't show results for OOS items, but you can find the product ID by searching for it under 'Sell Videos by Title'

Wow, thanks. How did you find those? I tried altering my search criteria to list by "video title" instead of "bluray title" and still nothing. Given you were able to find them I'm sure I must be doing something wrong.
