I don't know if there's a Scandinavian store that ships the BD to the US. The store I bought it from doesn't ship to the US.

Other BDs with theatrical version:
Korean BD (First printing): Best theatrical version release, but harder to find now. First printing was only used in the limited editions (there was no recall for limited edition I think. Stores like KimchiDVD added the replacement disc in separate case).
Dutch BD: I don't recommend it. Very poor picture quality.
Thai BD: Colors are very off in this release, but at least it doesn't have the intense artifacting from the Dutch BD.

Korean/Dutch/Thai BDs have English subtitles.

Definitely the theatrical version. Image is slightly darker and the image is improperly scaled to 1920x1080. There also seem to be some audio resampling issues.

That's annoying. So basically the collector's edition just has the book and soundtrack? The two things I didn't want. I do like the art better, but I'd have much rather had been able to buy a normal case version. I've never been impressed with the extra stuff in anime collector's editions, especially not enough to pay over twice as much for it. I'm still waiting for Funimation to even announce a US release the 4K for Your Name.

The Collector’s Edition also has the bonus disc with the making-of documentary. Well worth owning just for that alone, IMO. Exceptional documentary with great insight into the making of the picture.

Very nice. That one will match the entire rest of my Gkids lineup. Glad I didn't buy the 4K box for 80 bucks or whatever, especially since people are down on the disc. But I'll buy this one!

French UHD+BD Limited Edition - December 15 2021 https://www.alltheanime.fr/products/...4k-uhd-blu-ray

BD is French only. UHD should be almost the same Shout UHD, but with proper French subtitles and no region lock. I don't know if the newer UK or US UHDs still retain the Canadian French subtitles from the original release.

Now that a standard UHD is on the way, I have to ask as I have forgotten… did this one end up with worthwhile improvement in video over the BD or is it one of those anime titles that are DNRed?

It’s a digitally produced film, so the issue here isn’t DNR (though it still can be done on digital content), but rather, some egregious sharpening.

Considering how much time has elapsed since it's release, I don't think Funimation has plans for a 4K release of Your Name. If they did, they would have shown effort as they did with Akira.

You're better off just importing Your Name in 4K. It's not gonna be region locked anyway.

I intend on importing it, but I've been waiting to see if either had a discount for Black Friday or they announce a normal version later like with Weathering With You. If they haven't by February (the same time between both WWY versions) then I'll suck it up and order the other.

Oh I finally bought Your Name recently so don't you worry. I'm expecting that out of nowhere we'll get an announcement.

In seriousness the most obvious times would've been upon the film's initial release or near related films like, well, Weathering with You! So if it keeps selling in sustained numbers maybe we'll be fortunate but I wouldn't expect that.

Why did it took so long for a US 4K relese of Weathering with you? I mean here in Germany we have on since 25.9.2020.
