Can anyone tell me what cases 'Blue Underground' use for their releases?

My main gripe with so-called "eco cases" is two-fold. First, they are very poorly made, with disc hubs that easily break. The holes in the panels also offer no protection for the cover art, which can quickly tear no matter how careful you try to be.

Second, its painfully obvious that the studio execs didn't invent these things to save anything but their own wallets. What on Earth does a plastic case have to do with trees being cut down, or animals being unjustly killed? If anything, you're just adding to the landfills, because that's where most of these cases end up.

I think the counter arguments some people make are missing the point a little bit.

I hate eco cases but it's never really occurred to me that the disc could get damaged. I suppose in theory it's more likely, but i never get far enough with them to consider it. I live in the UK and as far as i'm aware i've never come across a UK bought blu ray with an eco case. Pretty much all US imports though, all come in eco cases. When i get them, every single time the cover is squashed including both the plastic and the paper insert. Most of the time, the case has bits broken off it too usually at the corners. A lot of them also have ugly stickers on the back that are impossible to remove. Not that important maybe, but i also don't like having 'made in mexico' printed on the back in ugly ink either. But mainly i hate holding the case at all. Just reading the back or looking at the cover, my fingers are bending the cover through the holes. There's just nowhere to hold the damn things!

Overall, they feel really unsatisfactory and i can't wait to get the cover art and disc out to put in a real blu ray case. Mainly the cover, because i want to avoid any further damage to it. All my eco cases end up in the bin, and none of them get recycled. When you see all the endless mountains of waste on things that you just throw away instantly, it actually annoys me that things i'm paying good money for and keeping are being targeted. It's pure nonsense.

The last title I had (Vampyres) was a proper case and not an Eco. I think it's an 11mm case but it's solid.

If it's possible to loathe & despite an inanimate object, I loathe & despise any and all Eco cases:

1) As has been stated, not only are Eco's flimsy, but those ridiculous "holes" typically result in the Blu slipcover being bent/torn/marred.

2) Having most/all new Blu's packaged in Eco cases has forced me to have to spend $ to get better, more solid cases. Sure, I know I don't need to do this, but since I can't stand Eco's I want to replace them.

Eco's should all be thrown into the closest recycling bin where they can perform the only thing they would be good for - being ultimately melted down & have their plastic used to make solid Blu cases....

Eco cases started to come around during the DVD days, and I was not happy to see them come over to Blu-ray. I just think they're really stupid - the holes are absolutely pointless and they are so easily damaged during shipping.

Yes, I know what you mean - Eco DVD cases started this terrible trend; and, I don't think companies save that much money by having them look this way....

Because they're flimsy, cheap and easily damaged. Not even sure if the OP is serious, since the answer is so blatantly obvious.

I don't know why companies can't just release Blu-rays in the slimmer cases like WB did for The Matrix Trilogy Blu-rays. They protect your Blu-ray and save plastic at the same time. Slim cases are 6mm as opposed to 12mm.

I also find that the paper sleeves and thin clear plastic outer layer sometimes get a bit ripply/wrinkled looking in eco cases.

I hate them with all my soul, the stupid cut outs on the Eco case end up damaging the covers and inserts. They bend and develop creases as well as holes. It stretches different in heat and feels cheaply made. I will forever purchase solid cases and throw away every Eco case I get stuck with.

I replace eco cases with solid ones and then sell the ecos. Those of you who also replace ecos may want to try selling them rather than pitching them. Folks who don't mind the eco cases can find cheap lots of them on eBay if they want more.

Eco cases do not protect the disc all that well and the discs can get dusty. The world will hardly be saved by disc cases with holes cut out of them.
