The original movie is awful, far too self-serious about family and honour and toxic masculinity. The second has some enjoyable silliness to it but is still awful. To be honest the first four are largely awful (although four starts with a bit of fun nonsense)

Then 5 came along and was so utterly stupid that you kind of couldn't help but be entertained. The cast were still performing with that self-seriousness from the original but the writers and directors were seemingly coming at it from a completely different angle of increased absurdity.

The dumber it got, the more entertaining they became.

Might as well go all the way.
Pretty much the only way they can get any stupider at this point is with the aforementioned sci-fi shit, which is why F10 or Fast X or whatever the f*ck it's called is already dead to me.

Thing is, those other movies, while not the most realistic, at least had some tethers of reality in them. F9 took the laws of physics and shoved them off the cliff.

And it wasn't just the stunts, either, jets shooting missiles straight above them and Tyrese running in a straight line away from bullets and they don't hit him/them a single time.

Why should I care what happens when I have no reason whatsoever to fear for their safety? I mean, c'm'on man, Avengers tried harder to have actual stakes.

You shouldn't care. The films are stupid, there are no real stakes because they're not really films, even the characters have cottoned on.

The less physics are involved the better, then I can see some hilarious mental stuff I'll never see if any other franchise and I can laugh heartily. I also want the characters to continue to act super macho and serious whilst this childish dumb stuff is happening.

Next time Dom drives up to a missing bridge, I want Tej to mention something about air having as many atoms as a solid bridge would have, then Dom mumbles something about family and just...drives across thin air.

Not hover with jets or launch himself off of a ramp; just drive across the air

If you believe in family anything is possible.

I'm going to assume Ritchson will be playing Vin's other secret brother?

Either that, or his grown-up son who has traveled back in time to warn Vin of his post-F&F career prospects.

Just let Vin take over the directing. Get Lin to write a letter to the DGA about Vin’s artistic vision for the franchise.

Still weird to think Lin walked less than a week into filming because Diesel kept wanting to change things. I can just imagine it going like this:

Vin- “Hey Justin. Remember in Fast 6 when Gal Gadot got blown off the back of that plane and died when we were driving down that 30 mile runway? Well turns out she didn’t die. That runway went all the way to the moon but it was invisible. The govt. took her body there, brought her back to life, and now she’s being brainwashed as a super soldier on a secret moon base by my other brother Jason Momoa and they are going to come down here and take over the Earth. I didn’t know he was my other brother because my mom sent him to the moon when he was born to protect him from my abusive dad. He’s been in a secret program training super soldiers and now he has Gal. They have been tracking us from all the way back in the day when we were just stealing DVD players. We have build some cars and drive to the moon to rescue her because SHES FAMILY!!!”

Justin- “Hey Vin, we had a good ride. I had your back when we towed that bank vault through Columbia, when u guys learned how to fly and turned into superheroes, when you burst out of that crashing plane and flipped your car 37 times before walking through fire like the Terminator without a scratch, when you were swinging cars across giant chasms and evading laser seeking missiles before getting picked up by magnet planes, when we went to space in a Fiero last time, but this is just too unrealistic. I’m out.”

Lin will be about as much a producer on this as Spielberg is on Indy 5.

It's actually really, surprisingly good, too. A very good adaptation of the first Reacher novel, Killing Floor.

7 was a nice ending. They should’ve just left it at that.
