It also needs in the ballpark of $850m to break even after marketing and that might be a low estimate. Good luck with that after F9, which wasn’t well-received and barely turned a profit at a 70% lower budget.
I think it reached self parody about 5 instalments ago.

I am also absolutely fine with time travel.

In fact I'd be disappointed with anything less.

The ending of the last movie felt like it was hinting at the return of Brian to the franchise as much as anything else.

Might as well throw these in there for good measure:

"They're going to space in the next one"

"Might as well do a crossover with the Jurassic/Transformers/GI Joe movies"

"Remember when these movies were about street racing?"

"This series needs to end already"

"Something something family, am I right guys?"

That would be tasteless.

I think they’d have at least teased it by now if it were going up with Avatar this weekend. I’m thinking Super Bowl launch instead.

If F9 is any indicator, probably January or Super Bowl at the latest.

I'm fine with F9. Was it too outlandish? Bordering on self-parody? Sure. But the stuff with Dom's brother (John Cena) was handled well, and provided a believable way to keep Jordana Brewster in the fold sans the Brian character. If they're serious about wrapping it up with 11, I'd be fine with them using some movie magic to bring him back in the end.

These are dumb fun movies, and on that level, they still deliver. I hope the next one is good, despite it becoming a debacle behind the scenes. Who knows, that stuff might convince them to reign it in, and deliver a tighter, more grounded, back-to-basics finale with the next one.

It really wasn't, though. It created more continuity problems/plot holes by changing Dom and his father's origin and pacing issues by having to flash back to it so much. And on top of that, his Family moment at the end (I think you know where I'm going with this) was the most contrived thing I've seen in a while.
[Show spoiler]He gives Cipher and Co. the device to launch the satellite and then, on a dime, they turn their back on him for no reason ("hey, thank you for helping us launch this Deus Ex Machina satellite that'll {hopefully} destroy the world, now, go f*ck yourself!")? Just so they can have a cop out of an excuse to reunite The Family yet again.

It also completely ruined Han's backstory and Furious 7 as a whole by bringing him back in the stupidest way possible with the whole "Justice 4 Han" bullshit, which it's still not clear how the hell he survived being inside of an exploding car in Tokyo Drift.

Universal needs to keep this in theatres as long as they can to make the budget back.

I genuinely love this franchise, and in my opinion they should just keep amping each movie up. Why not? Go nuts with it. It's no different than when slasher movies went in crazy directions. Jason went to Space.

Eventually you just have to lean in to the insanity and have fun with it. F9 did that perfectly.

How about the Universal cinematic universe? On the night of the purge, a disgraced all-female a cappella group under the command of the Scorpion King lets the dinosaurs from Jurassic Park loose and only Dom can stop them with the help of Chucky.

I imagine that's a more coherent & sensible plot than the actual storyline for Fast X.

I'd watch it!

Using terms like Deux ex Machina in a franchise like Fast and Furious is hilarious.

Like c’mon guys, you didn’t have these problem 6 films ago when they jumped the shark but now they’ve “gone too far”.

Fast and Furious franchise always drops trailers during the Super Bowl. That would be my bet 100%
